shift knob/shifter confusion

I wanted to change to a simple Hurst 6 speed white ball but first of all the stock shaft is not threaded, (dumb), so I have to go to a 200.00 Barton shifter, (the Barton ball kit won't work) and then buy a Hurst ball or buy a 349.00 Hurst shifter.
250.00 plus to get a white round ball ?
I'll have to think about that.

I have the hurst shifter in my car, yeh its a lump of change but it can be found for $319.00 and to be honest it is the best mod on my car to date, I highly recommend it.

Yep, get the Barton shifter. I actually went back to the stock knob because it is heavier than the ball....not to mention that ball was very cold in the morning.

I know the Barton short throw come with 2 shafts, one threaded and one grooved for the factory knob, I believe you can use any knob you want after that. I like my ss knob.

can you go with the 200.00 Barton shifter and get the Husrt T Bar to fit?

Fits any shifter knob, handle, or grip using a 3/8-16 thread. If that helps.

since we are on this topic. Does the stock knob just pull off. I tried, but it did seem kinda hard, I guess I just need to pull harder or do you need a tool. Thanks

Yes it pulls off straight up, but the factory shifter shaft is slotted for the factory knob, don't plan on putting a threaded knob.

Check out this link. At the very bottom of the page I have a install video of our knobs. It shows you how to remove the factory knob.
