700 RWHP Build question
Afternoon Gents. I have a question. I'll be SCing, camming, etc my 2013 2SS Camaro. With that added power, 700 +- will the rear end need to be changed? I've been debating this with a friend, and would like another opinion.

Some have rans 9’s with the stock SS rear. Depends on what your plans are with the car. 700hp your not going to get traction with stock wheels/tires. If smoking tires till 80mph is the goal then the stock rear/axles might survive. If you add a decent rim/tire and get traction then they may not.

If you address everything you need to to eliminate wheel hop, you will be fine.

I’m running G-force 9 inch and axles along with BMR suspension. I had Nittio NT-05 tires and would just blow the tires off through 4th gear. I switched to Mickey Thompson street ss drag radials and man do they hook!

for wheel hop, you will want cradle bushings toe rods and trailing arms, LCA's wont hurt either. if you put 700 to the wheels and run street tire....you will be fine, but the power will be wasted because you will constantly spin the tire from a dig. If you run a drag radial....it will be Russian roulette with the diff. If you upgrade, I would go the ZL1 diff. that should easily be good for 1000rwhp.

Autos happen to be easier on the diff than the manuals (less shock). Like others have said here, some suspension work - at minimum swapping trailing arms and toe rods will reduce the wheel hop. Your stock axles will be the first to go. If you realize you need a stronger diff, the ZL1 is a great option being the best bang-for-the-buck. That includes the OEM ZL1 axles as well. The OEM driveshaft should handle your needs.

I read awful reviews on the MT STREET SS. They really hooked for you? I'm looking at Toyo R88Rs now. They seem like they have the most hook. Not crazy expensive either.

MT street radials are the ss tires I believe. I’m telling you they hook!! I was amazed by how well they took to the street. I went from blowing tires off to straight traction. I highly recommend these tires.
