Comments/Suggestions for my L99 build
Just picked up my car the other day near Dallas and wanted to get some opinions/suggestions for my build. It's a Black with Cyber Orange stripes 2SS/RS L99 A6
I intend to eventually move from N/A to F/I with a whipple SC within a year. So my build will be geared toward bulletproofing it for 600+ RWHP in Phase 2. This is intended to be a daily driver (a very fast one) with very few runs on a 1/4 mile track. Phase 1: Camshaft (undecided) possibly TSP VVT-2 cam with AFM delete or a Mast part. Trying to keep from having to replace stock stall/torque converter for now. Also read something about replacing the tensioner with a new camshaft is that correct? Headers are ARH 2" primaries with 3" tubing Borla ATAK Exhaust CAI possibly the pipeline from Phastek (undecided) Drop springs, front/rear sways and rear trailing arm from Pfadt 3.73 gears undecided trans tune (can't seem to find the thread on the people doing trans tunes) Phase 2: Whipple SC Bulletproofing rear end with either through JRE or the complete 9 inch conversion Heads ported or new mast part new rear axle Phase 3: bulletproofing the L99 with new pistons and other internals Thanks for the input. |

I would bullet proof first and work up from your list but thats me. I always start at the foundation and build up from there. Other than that it looks to be a solid game plan. If you take care of the things that will break first when you add the the s/c you have better dependability .

Hey bud I have the L99 and like you I went N/A first and am going F/I real soon. I will tell you what I got so far just to give you an idea. ETMC custom spec stage 2.5 cam, ARH long tubes, Rotofab CAI, 3200 stall, Borla Atak cat back, dyno tuned which of course tunes tranny, trans cooler. In next few weeks will replace heads with TSP heads and port and polish the throttle body. Yes I did the whole L99 to LS3 conversion. Let me know if you have any questions. Oh I am as well a huge OU fan!

Sounds very close to the COTW build..
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65275 Don't disregard the torque convertor... that's one of the very best mods for the A6... A set of Hendrix or G-force Axles is all you need in the rear until you go forged. And I second get rid of the lifters but with a mild VVT cam you could get by without removing the heads... Good luck... Also, Trifecta has a great trans tune... |
