Running to work this morning and...
So having a bad day.. took my car out saturday and i was home all sunday so didnt even touch her. So today (monday) :( i usually start my car 5 minutes in advance for work, but i have my cel on for the past 2 days so by instinct this morning i tried remote starting it, obviously it wont start up due to CEL, but today my car didnt even beep when pressing the lock button.. Odd i thought to my self. i was thinking either the remote wasn't working or battery is dead.
So i get outside and pressed the unlocked button and it worked i seen the lights flashing.. so i get closer to my door and noticed it not fully close.. all i could yell was wtf in my head. i seen my little lottery ticket wallet and envelope all over the seats which i usually kept in the center console.. my shit luck is i left my money clip with my license and cards in there on Saturday night. all of this was gone when i came to my car this morning :( someone had unlocked my car and taken it. I am more than positive i locked my car i usually dont go in the house without hearing the beep for lock when i press it on the remote couple of times. well yea having a bad day =\ has this happened to anyone else |

Sorry to hear it. It hasn't happened in my Camaro, but it did in my old 4 runner. I got about $500 worth of soccer equipment stolen, I know how you feel and it sucks. Hope it all works out

Lukly i placed my cards on hold soon as i got to work after verifying no pending transactions. Its just gona be a hassel to get my license again, and etc lost about 5 bucks and some change, also glad i used the 60 i had for a fill up on saturday.
But i am mostly concerned that soemonr was in my car more than likly when it was locked. How can i prevent this from happening again? I was doing some light reading at work and they mentioned these theif's using remote scanners to grab the signal from my key remote and etc. Def is a sucky feeling and i am sorry it happrnd to you aswell in the past, i guess i am going to be a bit paranoid for a while now -.- any advice and help on securing my car better so it doesnt happen again would be appreciated |

The thiefs out there have a new tool that is able to access all the new digital signals that our cars use to transmit codes. They simply walk by allow their device to register the code and then open the doors. NO horn no flashing lights nothing. Law enforcement has viseo of people using these black boxes in Texas and California breaking into the cars. They state that they are not sure exactly how it works but they do have one of the transmitters in their possession to be examined. Only a matter of time before something like this was made available. The video was posted on Police One Web site if you have access to it.

Hmm. I just read this the other day. Sounds like getting the code would be almost impossible.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/remote-entry2.htm Unless our cars are using old technology?

sorry that happened to you. so glad i have survailance cameras. sure, it wont stop it from happening, but at least i would have a chance to identify the thief.
another good idea would be to put one of those wireless driveway alerts in your car, then when someone opens the door, it rings in your house. they only cost $15.

I have Lojack. Haven't had any problems yet, thankfully. I guess Lojack won't prevent a break-in or theft but the LEOs can track it down pretty fast.

We had a new double din and speakers stolen out of a Jeep a few years back. Drilled out the lock on the back lift gate, ripped the dash plate off and just cut the radio out.

I am wondering if there are any logs in the car of locking/unlocking time and date stamp aswell with auto start and trunk open logs?
If so would it be possible to extract them? Pretty much i want to be 100% clear even though i am more than positive i locked my car that night. It would give me a sense of ease. Could it be possible Onstar store's these logs too? i dont remember exactly but with the iphone app i think it did have like a log that showed the car remote starting/unlocking/lock thanks guys. |

You inadvertently left your money clip and license in the car so why is it odd that you may have also forgot to lock the car?
