Never trust a dealer. I just bought a 2SS a week ago and "accidentally" found out I was entitled to a GM Retention rebate worth $1,000. I was shopping via the Internet for a car and was getting quotes all over. One dealer offered me one priced at $3K less than sticker. I called an asked what was wrong with the car and he said 'oh, it's because you get a rebate from GM.' At first he couldn't explain what it was for but basically current Saturn or Pontiac owners are entitled to this retention rebate. GM wants to retain the customers from those discontinued lines.
The other dealers never mentioned this. I bought my car from another dealer and negotiated the price and when it was agreed on, I threw out the fact I get another $1K off the price. They acted surprised I knew the details of the program. I'm pretty sure if I didn't say anything they would have never offered it up to me. |

Why would a lot car have 21" wheels on it? Don't dealerships trade/swap cars around all the time. Must be a pain to have to move an extra set of wheels around each time the car is traded.
Maybe the car that the OP got was ordered by another dealership and the wheels are still sitting there. Not trying to defend this dealership, but we don't have all the facts... |

Well my dad just recently bought his 2SS/RS Vert a month ago and got the 21" wheel upgrade and never got his RS OEM rims from the dealer! Funny thing is I bought my Camaro from the dealership a month earlier.. So we have purchased 2 Camaro's from them in 2 months. Not to mention my dad owns a OEM wholesale business and sell to the parts department at the dealership.. Let alone friends with the owner.. Guess I'll be making a call and try and get the rims back for him and show up with the rims at home!

Just got off the phone with the dealership... Owner of the dealership.. Said that the rims/wheels where a factory installed option but then said the rims/wheels where sent back to factory upon receiving the car. But if it was a factory installed option shouldn't it arrive at the dealership with the 21" rims? And not have to have the other rims/Wheels Shipped back?
What a load of horseshit.. Calling a more reputable dealership in Texas that we sell parts to too get to the bottom of this. Find out if I should take my business elsewhere. |

These days you have to do all your research before buying anything. Too many people out there are trying to make a buck off the uninformed.
That is why this site is so awesome!! The amount of 5th Gen Camaro information here is mind boggling!! |

Better.....tell him since hes being a pain you want the RS wheels put on the car, he can keep the 4700 wheels and you want the 4700 returned, If he balks at that then tell him the deals off and to take the car back. You can buy a Camaro from another dealer. Most states have a "cooling off" period....you can return the car within a few days, then find a delaer that wont rip you off.

If you wanted the 4700 dollar Rim's after a week of driving your car, can you order them? If so, what is the cost? If the answer is 4700 dollars, then yes, GM is pulling a fast one. If you can show you paid for both the RS package in full, the $4700 for the 21"s and the cost for the rims as a dealer installed option at any time is $4700, then you have legal grounds to file suit if they won't give you the 20"s.
*edit* - Looking up an online parts site for my dealer I can order 4 9.5" 21" Painted Black (most expensive Rim out of the 21" style, so going that just for shits and giggles). They are worth 820 a rim, and a set of P-zero's is around 1200. So.. 4480 Canadian + tax for me to buy a complete set of the most expensive 21's and rubber that I could take home and install myself if I wanted to. Keeping my 20's. Anyone having issues with there dealers. Do the math, print off the order forms, print off a copy of your invoiced car, and hit the dealer in person. Stay calm and make sense. If they don't escalate to GM CS, do it for them. Once you win and get your 20's, sell me the back 2 for cheap 21 inch Wheel - EA281- 21 Inch x 9.5 Inch Wheel - Black Painted/Polished Rim Flange EA281 - $787.50 each, $820 Installed - Tire - 21 Inch - PIRELLI P ZERO 275/35ZR21 103Y (Use on 21" Wheels EA281/EA282) - $1193.00, @1209.25 installed. (I assume this is for a set of 4? it doesn't actually say a quantity) Last edited by Phail; 08-10-2011 at 02:34 PM. |
