2014 1LE Journal - 2SS RS 1LE

Hey everyone, just joined the forum yesterday to introduce myself.

Just picked up a 2014 2SS RS 1LE here in south Texas; McAllen/Edinburg to be exact. Black on black.

Just wanted to start a build journal to track my vehicle myself, but also for others who like to modify but do so on a limited budget. This journal won't have forced induction or anything big baller like that for a while, but I hope that the mild mods I do on the vehicle inspire others, and show that it can be done on a limited budget as well. I will try to document each modification with the true cost to give everyone an idea of how much things cost to do.


Purchased car late September 2013, with 97 miles (on the lot car).

Will hopefully document with actual digital camera pictures (and not digital camera pictures like above) as I go along!

Nice car! There are quite a few '14 1LE's in here. It seems to be a much more popular option now. The word is getting around!

Just bought my first house, and paying off all the bills associated with it, aka my IKEA shopping fest and other furnishings (didn't move anything with me, at all! Only clothes, no appliances, nada!) and moving across country, and getting married here soon. Gotta limit spending! But there will be bolt ons at a minimum to start. That and I'm a reporting-to-work but not-getting-paid federal employee right now

While happy with the deal and whatnot, I was disappointed in the dealership; they did not install the front splitter, the high performance oil separator, and a few other things that were supposed to be done before delivery. Went to get it done, and they were too busy. Have the appointment this Wednesday to get it installed.

Just found out the Eibachs I bought were V6 EibachsSo they are for sale, and on the hunt for the right springs.

As soon as the budget shutdown stuff gets straightened out in DC, and I started getting paid as a result, I am ordering some bolt ons that you all will like!

Mike I think what he was referring to was in your signature you have it listed:
1: Dogs
2: Women
3: LS Motors

I believe he was trying to say you should have the "LS Motor" at number 1

Either way, didn't take it offensively, but you're probably right!

Had some basic cosmetic and ICE work this weekend, will try to get some good pictures. Some basic bolt ons arrived today, and ordering some performance parts this week hopefully, along with a new set of wheels!

Some updates, parts arrived, parts installed, and more on the way. Some exhaust related items will be here tomorrow hopefully.

Also, sold the 1LE wheels. Yes, I know it is blasphemy, but you guys will see the results of this move soon hopefully (both financially and cosmetically).

I PROMISE once I start getting these mods done, I'll use my nice Samsung point and shoot, and not my six year old phone.

1LE Splitter (finally):


Window tint. Got the darkest possible, which looks darker than my usual five percent I had installed on the last 11 cars I've had tinted; I had the same tint installer my whole life until this Camaro, due to moving across the country. Lifetime warranty. Oscar's Soundwaves in McAllen, TX for those down here. Neighbor recommended. Installed on all windows, but can't do windshields down here due to having two or three registration related stickers on the windshield:

Oscar's Soundwaves also did my amp install. My Kicker 300W Monoblock D amp. I've had this amp through seven or eight cars. Still going strong. JL 10s in a slimbox. I had this slimbox from all my Tahoes and Escalades I've had, which have nearly no room behind the third row seats. Fit perfectly in Camaro trunk, less than a foot of depth lost:
