Anyone get hit by the storm in the GTA last night??
My house was spared, but I was on the road in my truck when it hit... Some power lines came down RIGHT ON ME as i was driving (along Teston near Keele if anyone knows the area). It looks like someone took an arch welder to my truck!
I went back to where it happened after things cleared up, and found quite the mess. I almost cant believe I made it through unharmed. It's not letting me attach pics, but I will try and get some posted. edit: pics attached! Last edited by tededfred; 08-22-2009 at 10:23 AM. Reason: add pics |

Our area was spared, and I'm only a 15min drive east of where the Tornados touched down.

We had a small one that ripped off a couple roofs and snapped off large trees for 3 blocks right up to the police station. Hyw 25 was closed 24 hrs at the mall to cut down all the trees and replace wires.

yea i live in woodbridge. im on pinevally and langstaff, which is 2min from where the tornado touched down(martin grove/hwy7). i was no more than a 1/2 km away from the tornado when it was on its rampage. my house is still together but some people i know werent so lucky. one of my moms friends had her house destroyed by the tornado. thankfully her and her family is alright.
thursday was one MESSED up day. it went from a tornado toching down, to thunder and lighting, to hardcore rain, to the most beautiful rainbow iv ever seen. seeing a tonrdao no more than 1/2km away from u is really something impressive to the human eyes. the mess it made was amazing. mother nature is really something else.

That is crazy stuff guys! I was riding on my 200cc scooter in the thunderstorm. I was dry from the waist up as my motorcycle jacket and helmet kept me dry as a bone. Waist down, I was drenched.
People were pulling to the side of the road because they couldn't see or were scared but I just plowed on through in the puddles and rain. It was kinda refreshing but it wasn't until later that I found out funnel clouds touched down in Vaughn! What are we coming to folks? Natural disasters in the GTA? Unheard of, save the occasional baby tremor! |

Hate to say it folks, but we're part of tornado alley, which stems from the american midwest. We've been officially a part of this for years, it's just starting to show it's ugly head, over the last few years.

We're part of an area that can see very changy weather conditions from tornado threats to 36" of snow to ice storms and 38 degree drought conditions. It's just that we never see too much extreme of any one thing.
