Muffler delete
Yet another muffler delete question!
So I took my 2010 m6 over to a local shop and asked if they would do a muffler delete for me, he said yes but then tried to sway me in the direction of instead of replacing the existing muffler with straight pipe, to insert an open muffler. He said without the muffler "it would sound blah" lol. Just wanted some opinions, yes i have listened to several muffler deletes on youtube and they sound great to me but im not sure and im a novice when it comes to modes. All opinions are welcome and if any of you have had the muffler delete done, how and what did you replace it with (type of pipe and how was it intalled). Thanks guys! |

My opinion. I have muffler delete, with straight pipes. I have heard lots of other mufflers that cost MUCH more. I love the sound and haven't founf anything I like better, expect full exhaust systems. If you get it done and don't like it, THEN spend the money for other mufflers. This is so cheap and adds a great tone to the car.

What it's worth, I think muffler delete is great on an A6 but too loud on a M6. Use a Dynomax bullet muffler for a deep, throaty, good sound - and it's cheap.

Me too!! Got the mufflers taken off with a straight pipe and it sounds great!! Not too exagerated but a beautiful rumble. The guy at the shop first said it would sound good but of course recommended to get borla. Then the guy that actually did it in the shop said it's the best thing I couldve done for my exhaust. I did have them give me the mufflers in case I didn't like it.
Best $102 I've spent on her yet!

Just do the muffler delete. The Camaro is different than a lot of cars. Tell him to go muffler delete and tell him if you don't like it you'll have him put on mufflers or whatever. I think the both of you will be suprised.
They'll probably use Aluminum pipe since alot of shops what have Stainless piping. I did muffler delete + resonated x-pipe. You can go through my thread to at least familiarize yourself as to what's going on. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64964
