I kept the stock valves. It was my understanding that the valves were the same as the LS3 but I didn't verify that. Either way I was happy with the stock ones for this build. The springs are different for sure but I installed dual springs part of the cam package I went with. Quote:
I'd like to see that beast, hopefully you will bring it to C5 Fest next year.

And thanks everyone else for the positive comments. The purpose of this thread was really to demonstrate how relatively simple these engines are. Anyone can do it themselves, its not rocket science but it is a lot of work.

Thanks man. I look forward to see your ZL-1 again also. How's that cormaro project going? Ready to unveil that baby?
She is road worthy now for the most part just needs a tune and ill probably be seeing the guy that did yours for that in the spring. I still have a looong way to go to get the car to look good. Im worried about function right now and have some loose ends to fix on it before i do the body work. Plus i kinda ran out of money, that damn ZL1 sucked it all up lol. Worth it though. |

Awesome thread! and great documentation! Well worth the front page recognition.
I have been following this from the beginning and looking back through has inspired me too look more into getting all the parts for a cam swap. Do you by chance remember what length push rods you ended up getting after checking the ptv clearance and all? Cheers!

I ended up using 7.4" pushrods which gave me ~1 1/4 turns on the rocker bolts before the torque wrench snapped at 22 lbs. This translates into ~50-60 thou preload on the lifters which is in the recommended specs.
