I haven't seen many Challengers either . . . Mustangs, however, are all over the place and it's always been that way. They make so many of them, and have made so many of them over the years, which is why you'll see them constantly. Think about how many older Mustangs you see and how many older Camaros, or Challengers for that matter, you see on the road today - way more Mustangs. That's not to say the Mustang is better than the Camaro or the Challenger, b/c in my opinion - IT IS NOT! I have owned 3 different year mustangs in my lifetime and all three were JUNK - way too many issues to list. That is why I always went back to Chevy and have had 4 Camaros. I've learned my lesson and will NEVER buy another Mustang. Does anyone have any opinions about the new Challenger? My son is thinking about one.

the challenger (along with the 300, magnum, and charger) have a MBZ E class from 03' I think it was suspension, with different spring rates and shocks depending on the level, so it rides very smooth. Even the 5 speed automatic is a mercedes product, so it is a decent automatic. I think the 6 speeds are a direct rip off of the viper 6 speed, maybe not the quality material on the disk or pressure plate, ergo not the HP capability of the viper, but all in all, it's the same unit and easily upgraded from what I hear. The 2.7 and 3.5 V6s can't compare to the output of the camaro 3.6, so if you can help it, I'd stick with a 5.7 at the very least, and the 6.1 is a fun motor to have And an honest to god LSD in the R/T track packages and SRT8's is very nice compared to the merceded electronic control open diff that is otherwise standard.

I'm not complaining

Yep the rear suspension is based on that gen E class, but the rest I believe is different. The TR606 is a version of the same transmission used in the Viper, Corvette, Camaro, and I believe the Gt500. The 5 speed auto is a benz uit. Rumors have it being replaced either by a new 8 speed auto or Benzes newer 7 speed auto in the next couple years.

I know someone who has the Challenger and he absolutely loves it. I do like the body style, but I've always been a Chevy girl.

I test drove the Challenger SRT 8 and Camaro SS2 back to back and honestly the SRT 8 was a great car and I really enjoyed driving it but was way over priced BAD!! in the end the camaro won in my eyes and that's what ended up in the garage!

this is why camaro and mustang are going to prevail here. I had to wait until I found a used srt8 challenger to get it, 44+K was too much for me, but 37.5K with 1700 miles on it was juuust right

I heard they were making some changes to the Challenger engine for 2011 to be more competitive with the Mustangs and Camaros, I would wait for the 2011 to come out before buying one.

I don't know if that is official yet. I think it's just wishful thinking right now.

yeah, the only one getting any power upgrades is the SRT. the 5.7 got the VVT in 09. no one knows for sure what the power output will be for sure on the new 6.4 hemi, but some are estimating between 450-500.

Also the Pentastar for the SE, unfortunatly no HP figures on either yet, but both are in the dealer maintenece system, apparently a system used by dealer mechanics, not to roder or anything yet. system for the 11 CHallenger (still the 5.7 for the R/T. One odd thing and this may just not be completely up to date yet, the 2011 Charger is listed with the 3.6 Pentastar and 5.7 only and no SRT 6.4.

I've heard this on the forums but my dealership claims no knowledge. I suppose there is always something better if you wait for it but then you never get to own one. Paid $34,500 for mine, fully loaded, I could throw another $8,000 to $10,000 at it and have a real beast. But will it remain a daily driver? What would that do to the engine life? Probably will stick to adding a T/B, headers and a cam and leave it at that.

Asked my wife if she wanted to trade her 2010 Mustang GT for the 2011 (with the 5.0) instead of adding a S/C down the road and she looked at me like antlers had just sprouted out of my head. Needless to say, she is happy with her Mustang as is.
