Speeding in NJ

Just an FYI.. Got this in an email, its probably going around but just wanted to give the heads up.

STATE POLICE - NJ TICKETING

Here's the latest NJ State Police Initiative (Radio Station 101.5 FM confirmed this info).

Starting today, New Jersey will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. One million dollars will go to pay state troopers over-time.

There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways as follows:

I-295 North and South,
I-95 Jersey Turnpike North and South
I-80 East and West
I-287 North and South
I-78 East and West
I-195 East and West
I-280 East and West
Route 130 - North and South
Garden State Parkway - North and South

5 MPH above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over andwrite a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.

They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all of their part-timers on full time. If you work in NJ, NY, DE or CT, you will probably be on one of these highways. So, please be on guard and drive safely!

Starting August 15, the price of a violation to show your driver's license, registration or insurance card at the time you are stopped, increased from $44.00 to $173.00. (Keep these documents in your car). And the fine for not having all three documents is $519.00!

The fine for hand-held cell phone use while driving will be going up to $180.00.

Please forward this to people in N.J.or any one using the N.J. Highways, and let them know of this latest Police Initiative.

The states will do anything they can just to milk every dime out of the public.

This email has been going around for like 3 yrs... The dates just keep changing.I get it like every 3 months. Tech a police dept can't tell its officers they have to write a certain amount of tickets not saying its not done but I doubt they would make it public if they did. So u should always be alert cause they if they wanna get u they will...

It's fake...I've gotten that same email for other cities.

With that said, there have been cops all over 18 this week and they always have someone pulled over.

And you're probably wise to keep it under 70 on 195 always.

Hey Brad how ya been?

On the GSP you really have to be caught going over 15 for them to even think about pulling you over. If you are doing 11 or 12 mph over you will usually be fine. They want to go after the peeps doing 15 or 20 over. This is what my brother-in-law has told me but he is a cop in NY, NJ could be different of course.

nj unmarked

have a neighbor, nj trooper, told me a couple weeks back that he thought no more unmarked crown vic's, he thought and his baracks got unmarked Dodge Chargers. I have seen at least three of these with people pulled over on 295, 95, and 287, so I do not know about this.

I travel between Ct and Annapolis MD on I-95 and the Garden State Pkwy. People are stopped all the time every time I travel. If they stopped everyone going 10 or 15 over they would have to stop everyone. The unmarked police vehicles I am suprised to see are the black Chev Tahoe type SUV's. Black with blacked out windows. I wonder how many people blow by those troopers at 80+ and then get stopped. It's going to be hard to keep my SSCamaros under 75-80.

Pretty good. Was away on vacation last week and with being busy and the rain this week and the week before I went away I've gone nearly 3 weeks between washes! Looking forward to waking up tomorrow to clean up.

Yeah I've passed so many cops on the GSP going 70-75 and look back in my mirror expecting to see them pulling out after me and nothing. I think you're right, they're looking for the big fines. At nigh though, I try to keep it under 75 because they have less cars to go after.

GSP is crazy w/ patrol. Besides the vacationer traffic they are making the parkway wider in South Jersey. So definately watch your speed on the GSP.

While I think the ticket quota email is bogas, there is no doubt the cops are all over the GSP and 78, I don't think there has been a day in the last couple of weeks I have not seen cars on both sides pulled over all along my path and I have very short commute, far more than I have ever seen before here.

Flow of traffic is the best bet, not a sure thing but as safe from tickets as you can get except going the posted limit. Most of the time on the GSP the flow is 10-15 over anyway, that is except for heavy traffic times.
