Ordered my Camaro but had to settle...
I finally ordered my Camaro yesterday, but had to settle for something different than I had in mind thanks to climatic disasters on the other side of the world.
I have always wanted a CGM 2SS and was eagerly waiting to order a 2012. Yesterday I went to the dealer and the manager got into the global GM site to order my 2012. The CGM was not there. He called his contact in Oshawa on speakerphone and we were told GM has no plans to continue the colors affected by the tsunami and that GM will possibly make up a new gray at some point. So my options were SIM, Black and Carbon Flash Metallic. My BMW is silver and I don't want to be a slave of a black car although it's the best color for a Camaro. CFM was the closest color to what I wanted. So we found out CFM is only available with 45th ann package, which I really wasn't interested in. After going through the 4 phases of grief in about 5 minutes, I had to settle for the 45th anniversary package 2SS. I guess i'll learn to like the hood stripes. A couple of details: When we tried to add the heritage grill, it was only available in black, red and white, not CFM. So I'll have to wait to see if they make it in CFM later. When trying to add the fender flares, the system wanted us to remove the 45th ann package alltogether. WTF? So I'll have to wait to see what happens with that in the future also. No pricing yet. Order processed and received. So that's my experience. I can't stop thinking of my baby to come. My wife is also thrilled for me. I hope this info helps somebody interested in the 45th anniversary package.

FYI... You dont have to get the stripes... straight from the mouth of FbodFather! I asked him already.
Call the dealer and tell them to do the stripe delete option! |

Its your car, and you can have it any way you want it. Tell the dealer to remove the stripes. You can also get a Heritage Grille and have the dealer paint it Carbon Flash if thats how you want it.

Even if the model they ordered had stripes, you could have the dealership remove them just like you can have them remove the vinyl dealer logo from the boot lid.
Well.. So long as they aren't painted on.

That's the problem now. Do I WANT to delete the stripes and affect the "Collector's factor" of the car or screw it and put more plain ones on?

The more odd the options, the more of a collector's item it will be. It's why crazy colours like "Sublime" and "Plum Crazy" raise the value on old 'Cudas. The less it is like the majority of cars in its group, the more it will be worth later on when they are difficult to acquire.
