ZL1 10 SPOKE BLACK WHEEL ISSUE

Long story short at 6500 miles the clearcoat started peeling off, took the dealer and they agreed they were bad and needed to be fixed. After 3 days got the car back and at first glance looked ok. When I washed them for the first time I could now see that they just painted them black, and they looked flat. Took back to the dealer and after 1 day got it back and you can see where whoever tried to fix them just sprayed some clearcoat over them im guessing. Wheels still look flat and now they look splotchy almost like plasti dip. Does GM not stand behind their product, you would think a high priced vehicle with a high priced part would be better reconciled then this. Anyone else having this issue? Sucks I cant get these replaced under warranty, after all it is a defected part of the vehicle.

You know thats right. I would contact Chevy Customer Service and also report the dealer because the dealer may have charged GM for the rims and only did a patch job for this guy.

Those wheels need to be stripped, then powdercoated. Much more durable than paint. Surface prep is key in ANY paint job.

Agreed.. The first time you could tell they just painted them. Didn't even bother taking the tires off the rims.

Why can't you get them covered under warranty? If you were at my dealership I'd be taking pics of the issue, have my service manager email the photos over to the district manager to get wheel replacement approval. It's a few more steps than a regular warranty claim but a few extra steps won't kill anyone. I think your dealer is being lazy.

Definitely call Chevy Customer Care. 800-222-1020
