A lot of the people complaining aren't owners, i don't think.
Here's the way i look at it. Some people want a stiffer suspension for the SS. Well if they do that they're half way to what the Z28 will be. It's great ford offers a track pack, but to me the way they've improved the gt i don't know why anyone would spend thousands more for the 500 or 350. I think Chevrolet has got the models just right. The Camaro doesn't need big changes.
The only thing i was expecting for 2011 was possibly ambient lighting for the dash.

I would like to see horsepower upon the SS to like 450 at least. Also I would love to see either a supercharged or turbo V6 option or an upgrade engine with aqround 375-400 that would fall between the base and SS
I am sure GM wishes they had that magic wand also.

GM would have to find other cars to put a Supercharged/turbocharged V6 into. It's very expensive to produce an engine for just one trim of one car.

Dont be surprised if a smaller block, DI V8 makes an appearance in the last two model years for this Camaro.

In the case of the GT350 it's about prestige. It'll be a limited edition car, signed by Shelby himself, and sporting a more advanced motor than the GT500.

I wonder if the said 312hp is actually just the same as last year engine or if their will be actual improvement in 0-60 and 1/4mile as I said why be nominal when I read they could have put in the 325hp 3.6DI engine that the 2011 Malibu SS will have give me that version of the 3.6DI. If the 1/4 mile is the same as last year is then all they have done is actually nothing at all. Also put out a madel with about 375-400hp priced in between the base and SS and call that the RS where it will mean something.

Performance is not changed from last year unless they made more changes then they announced.

And the 3.6 in the Malibu SS is the same as in the Camaro. I am not sure what is different to rate it at 325hp though.

The RS=APPEARANCE ITEMS ONLY. always has been this way. The trim levels are fine-- SS L99/A6 is at the upper end of the range you suggest anyway.

Just wondering where you came up with this Malibu SS story? I can't find anything about a 2011 Malibu SS except for an old Motor Trend Artical from 2006.. As far as I know Chevy has not announced one for 2011, please provide the information where you got it from.

  1. What Malibu SS? I follow all things Chevy pretty closely and I haven't heard any such announcement.
  2. It has less power because of active fuel management. This keeps auto SS buyers from paying a gas guzzler tax
  3. DI V8's are coming, but they aren't expected for about 2 years.
  4. A small hp bump would be nice, and should be doable. But I would think that other performance options are more likely.
  5. A forced induction V6 would cost about the same and weigh about the same as an SS, but with less power.
