If you want this look you can do the whistler mod(google it) to the stock headlights. I did the whistler mod and sprayed a medium coating of nightshade vht on my stock taillights(2002) and always loved the way they turned out. My fourth gen was also black.

Just need to be careful about tinting the rear tail lamps. Technically speaking, in most states it's illegal and could get you pulled over.

Drove the car like that for 8 years and never got pulled over for them. I only sprayed a few light coats until the turn signal and reverse lights were lightly tinted, I didn't make it blatantly dark.

And also about the whistler mod, you do that to the OEM lights. All you do is pop the oem headlights in the oven and then pry them apart, paint the reflective part of the headlight not including the area that the lights actually reflect from, then reseal the headlights. Looks much better than the 100% "chrome" look they have normally.

End result is this:
