Fuse pull for the v6
So past couple days my car felt abnormally sluggish. I decided to try the fuse pull on the v6 (im tuned to run 93). I pulled the fuses and waited about 40 minutes and put them back in. Then my car ran the way it was supposed to. Any idea why I had to do this? I might have put 87 in but I am not 100% sure.

interesting, becasue the fuse pull is a V8 thing and not a V6 thing and should not be required.

I have done the same exact thing but I unhooked the battery. It was running super super rich (black smoke and soot covered the back of the car) and a battery unhook fixed it. I'm on stock tune though.

Just did mine yesterday went from 15 MPG city to 17 (cold weather). For some reason this LLT V6 gets bogged down after a long winter and doesn't re-adjust properly. Maybe someone from GM could explain? Standard protocol when installing an intake or making any component change is to unhook the neg battery cable. Its written in all the manuals, allows the proper synchronization / learning of the new part. In colder climates they change from winter formula fuel to less volatile summer blend. I don't know why the LLT will not re-learn the summer fuel but this time of year I have to do a fuse pull to get my mileage back. Going on a trip today and I'll post my mileage numbers later.

yeah, not buying it. i did the fuse pull a long time ago, and didn't notice any changes. 2mpg difference? not enough to say it was changed due to fuse pull. lots of other factors could have caused that.

The only thing done by unhooking your battery was a fuel trim reset. You car relearned the STFTs and LTFTs. So while the fuse pull helps the V8 I don't see why let our screwy ECM relearn the fuel trims.

agreed... I think the main reason the companies want you to unhook the battery is so you do short anything out...

I just did this yesterday on my first long drive to the Beach after the fuse pull.
Rt 81 is a 45 - 50 MPH rural road. You guys want to be hard headed then don't do it!

When you fuse pull you are resetting the ecm, which mean you are resetting your fuel trim, throttle sensor, KR, etc..etc..
Resetting the ecm will always make your car feel alive at first but it ill come back to feeling "normal" after about 100 miles when almost all sensor finish learning with fuel trims taking the longest. I personally wouldn't do any wot runs for the first 30 miles anytime after resetting the ecm, but I'm sure there are peoples that will disagree |
