Tinting windows question.

Should I get everything tinted or just everything besides windshield. He said most people usually get everything besides windshield. I never got my windows tinted before so don't mind the newbiness.

Also should I get the darkest tint or lighter? What % is good.

I'd go legal limit for tinting on all windows (including back window). Nothing on windshield.

I did everything but the windshield and am thinking about haveing that done as well. How dark you want to go is purely up to you. However a lot of states have laws on how dark you can go on certain windows. Most installers will put on what ever you want but you may get a ticket for it if you get the wrong officer.

I did everything but the windshield, I went 65 on the sides and 95 on the back on my black 2SS I love it! Warning if you have trouble seeing at night I wouldn't go any darker than 65 on the back, 95 on the back glass at night is virtually impossible to see out of.

Not sure the laws in NYC, but where I am (in Quebec, Canada) the best I can do is 5% legally... or wait is that 95%? I always get it backwards... but basically in Quebec you need 95% light passage, or basically no tint lol. It's a secondary offence here though so they'll only nail us in combination with another violation.

Just got mine done. Went 28% all the way around and 5% limo strip on the top of the windshield. Looks great, but shoulda went 20% on the windows. I'm glad I got the windshield strip. Makes a huge difference in the sun, cuz our visors don't block anything.

Usually you rate the windows by how much light is allowed through so it sounds like you went with 35% front and 5% back? .

Also just so you're "in the know" NY tint laws are Any % on the back and 70% on the front and rear sides. The factory glass is 70% so technically any tint on the sides of your car is illegal. Doesn't stop most people and you probably wont be hassled however, you potentially could be asked to remove it. Just an FYI.

legal in colorado is 35 % which to me is too light. i went with 16% and love it. never do the windshield, to make it dark enough to even be noticeable will screw you. and to answer the above question, it is all opinion, any tint makes it darker and harder to see at night. my opinion is anything darker than 12% is going to get you in trouble. i know people that drive all day and night with 5% and never have a problem, but my 16% has gotten me in some close calls once or twice.

What? 95% thats crazy. The factory glass is rated at 70%. I don't see how you could possibly comply with that. That's like plate glass clear!

Anything on your front two windows is illegal in NYS. I personally go 20% all the way around. But I think I'm going to drop to 35% this go around to prevent issues with LEO. And help with the night driving and blind spots. You can black out your rear windows as dark as you want, and nothing more than 3 or 4 inches I think from the top of your windshield down. The shop you go to should be able to tell you. Anything darker than 20% is DARKK, looks good but you sacrifice night driving and possible issues with law enforcement.
