Chevy Bowtie Color

A guy I know told me once that in the old days, and not so old, that the different color Chevy bowties had meaning. Basically that gold, blue, and red Chevy bowties were put on different types of vehicles like trucks, sedans, and performance. Maybe the red was performance. Anyone have a clue about this. I've been looking on the internet and haven't found anything yet. I love a link to an actual source before I go to painting my car.

I apologize if this is in another thread already. Maybe I'll get lucky and Scott will stumble onto this, I bet he knows the answer.

New member btw, sort of, been following this site for years just haven't signed up for whatever reason, hope I put this in the right place and didn't break any

I don't know, but they were blue on the '69 camaro. Gold is ugly.

I remember in the 90's the gold ones were on the trucks. Blues ones are he Cavalier, Lumina, etc. and the sporty (and I use that term loosely) ones got red bow ties like the Monte Carlo, and the Cavalier Z24. Even the bow tie in the grill of the 4th gen Camaros was red. I don't remember anything later than that since I was little kid and not that much into cars yet

For the most part, gold was used on trucks, blue on cars, and red for performance vehicles.
