Custom Sub Box and Installation

Hey everyone. I've never posted here, but I read the forums a lot. I just finished isntalling a custom box in my '11 Camaro, with the subs facing forward. I built a custom box to the measurements of the car, and added 2 10-inch Memphis subs and mounted the Alpine 1000 Watt amp to the box.

I'm still finishing up hiding the wiring in the back, and then I am installing a switch up front to turn the bass system on and off. I'm thinking about adding blue LEDs to match the blue light on the Alpine box, and then I am working on a new stereo to replace the stock. Then it's onto replacing the stock speakers.

The custom box that I built allows for the extra trunk space. The box sounds great with or without the back seat up.

I also recorded a video, but of course it's hard to tell the sound quality. It does give you an idea though.

Nice setup. I want to do something like that. Can you explain the sound difference between front firing and rear firing.

To be honest I havn't tried it out a lot with the seat up because we hardly ever have people riding in the back of the camaro. I plan on leaving the seat down when I use the subs because I built the box for show. I'm pretty sure that it won't affect the amp too much because it can still breathe.

Can you explain the sound difference between front firing and rear firing.

http://www.teamrocs.com/technical/pages/aiming.htm This website really helps to justify why people place their subs to the front instead of the rear, and it can probably answer your question better than I can. I think that the system sounds better with the subs facing forward, but it's a matter of personal preference.

Just finished installing the switch to turn the bass system on/off and to turn the bass volume up/down. Took a couple videos after the install for those who are interested.

Where did ya mount the fuse block? I'm getting ready to install a sub in my 1SS and not sure where the best place would be to mount it. 18" from + battery terminal doesn't leave much room.

Thanks.

QUESTION THOUGH ...
Did you upgrade your interior speakers / amp?
Wondering if your two tens are going to Bass-Out .... actual mids and highs, being that the stock system is not too powerful?

Thanks guys. Nancygrl - I mounted the fuse box six inches from the battery in the spare tire compartment.
Fijikid - Yes, you are right. We are in the process of upgrading the stereo and stock speakers on the camaro. Planning on putting in the Alpine stereo and replacing the speakers soon. Will post pictures of the finished sound system.
