Birthday Car
Is it bad to let a 16 year old have this car? Oh, well, at least I kept the 2010SS for myself.

Yes. Teaches them no responsibility. They will take the car and not care for it. Only because it was handed to them.

I put in 10k into it but my parents bought it for me as a gift for being accepted into University. Just because people are young, doesnt mean that they will wreck it, or become snobs or anything. I pay my insurance, $515 a month with a clear record. I have to be responsible not to get a ticket because then ill have to pay about $800 for insurance. I keep the car clean, its never been dirty for more then 2 days and its my DD. I know it seems random that im telling you a brief life story about myself but I just want to show that not all kids are bad, and not all kids will wreck or mistreat their camaros. For the most part, parents wont buy kids a car unless the kid has earned it or the parents know that they will be responsible with that car. Im sure his kid is a deserving one.

I'm 16 and my parents will be ordering me a 2012 SS for Christmas. I've saved up $5000 already and have a job. I take care of my car now and both of my parents car. I wash all 3 cars every week, and take care of them. So, I guess it's up to you to see if the kid deserves it and will take care of it.

Depends on the kid and how you've raised him/her.
I'm 29, and when I was 17, my dad agreed to buy me a used Camaro because I was doing so well in school (sophomore year, still had a 4.0). This was in the year 2000, and the car was a 1994 Camaro V6 with about 50k miles. It was something I really wanted, had saved for, and out of kindness and grace, dad bought it for me. $6500 to a kid is a lot of money now as it was then. I took care of that car. If the Pope had a Camaro, that would have been it. I used nothing short of holy water to wash it and care for it. But not all kids are like me or any other kid that respects a car that's given to them. Only you know the answer... |

Wow, I'm jealous. If you think he deserves then by all means do it.

I'd love too, but the Suburban I drive has way too many problems with it, and is going to break down anytime. So, my parents said they'll just get my the Camaro for Christmas.
