The DIC menu incorporated into the turn signal stalk is something BMW and MB have been doing for years, so it's cool to see something like that in an American car.

It cleans up the clutter of buttons on the dash board.

and moves it to the turn signal stalk. man it reminds me of the GM stalks in the 70s 80s and early 90s whch had the wipers, and the cruise controls on top of the turn signal/high beam. on Monty the turn signal stalk only other feature is the wipers.

Well, for the last few years, GM has gotten into the modern (and proper) age of driver ergonomics and put a sepparate stalk on the right side of the wheel just for windshield wipers, and have put the cruise controls on the steering wheel. So the turn signal stalk has only the turn signal function, bright lamps, and DIC menu (most people aren't cycling through the DIC every few minutes anyway). Not very complicated, and very ergonomically correct.

Were it not for DIC, you'd have a dashboard that looks like this:

Which are all from a 1993 Bonneville, and I don't think you want GM to revert back to the nightmare of buttons, lights, and bells and whistles on that dashboard.

According to Webster's college dictionary - gage is an acceptable variation for gauge. The words origin is unknown.

It's a non-standard but correct spelling, English being the crazy language that it is!

Hmm. Did people spell it that way in 1993?

Either there wasn't enough room for "gauges," people spelled it that way, or someone screwed up...
