unless you are signing an agreement for a fully refundable deposit, i would go somewhere else.

Some are offering $1000 refundable deposits that go toward the purchase. Others are not requiring a deposit a deposit at all. What you should do is get your dealer to sign something that says the deposit is refundable, that is goes toward the car, and what place in line you are.

I gave $1000 for my deposit ( refundable ). If the pricing is not to my liking, or lets say a color is not available ( cough.... Aqua Blue Metallic SS.... cough ) my money will be returned. Just make sure it's in writing.

Your deposit should go against buying the car and should be refundable ... $1000 isn't unreasonable and I would think it would be expected ..

There is a dealer near me requiring a $3000 non-refundable deposit. Needless to say they won't be getting my order.

actually...I don't really think they can legally keep your money until you sign a sales contract and you leave the property with a car.
