Blown Old School Style

Being a newbie to the car and boards for just a couple of months, forgive the stupidity.Has anyone went back to basics and done this to a 5th Gen yet or does it just not work. Why hide a blower under the hood?

Carburetors just plain suck. That, and no intercooler. Those blowers do look sweet though. I've been fooling with the wife's gen I Camaro. Did I mention carburetors suck?

As much as I would love to have that look with my SS.. I'm happy my blower and intake are contained under the hood and grill.. Makes it easier to drive in inclement weather w/o sucking precipitation in to the engine.

Because you can't see $hit out of the front window anyway. Putting a 2 foot tall blower out of the hood would make it impossible. Oh, there's the stealth look as well. While I haven't seen anything like that on a modern muscle car, there's a video of a Challenger with a MASSIVE KB that sticks way out of the hood.

I say screw it if you like it do it we will all be waiting for your results with faded breath!!!! Oh by the way you can have a gigantic blower without the carbs but it takes a biiiiiggggg intake to get it out the hood with fuel injection!!!!!

Actually, a good fabricator can do this to ANY top mount style roots or twin screw. It simply needs an ECU that can run MAP over TPS and remove the MAF. That along with a new intake tube, return to a throttle cable, and a simple intake spacer to accomodate a larger A/W intercooler. We've thought about this a bunch for a show car or just someone who wants to have a ton of fun. But it can even be done on the stock motor. Not really all that big of a deal.

Cool !!

I kind of like the "viewing window" style hoods some of you guys run but can understand the going the "sleeper" mode as well. Guess you could always go the opposite route for some extra oomph.Thought it was PS job at first.

Would love to see it done for a Showcar.
