Rats! This means WAR!

So today I decided to pass some time by clay bar and waxing my car. I started on the hood and bumper. When I finished with the wax I popped the hood to make sure I get all the wax on the edge of the bumper and grill and I find this damn rats nest.. This likely came from the week I didn't drive it due to surgery. Needless to say I am furious. It chewed on the MAF sensor wires, thankfully it didn't completely destroy it and I was able to wrap it back up with electrical tape. Also shredded some of the firewall insulation. No rats were in it when I cleaned it out, but I wish there was so I could take out my frustration. Went and bought some mouse traps and sticky pads. If I don't get any ill buy some rat poison since we don't have any pets or kids in the house. I didn't finish clay bar and waxing either.

Here is the pictures

That does suck. Years ago when I was writing service for a Mitsubishi dealer a customer had the same thing happen. Unfortunately for them it destroyed the body harness in several places. It took 6 months to have one built from Japan.

I heard moth balls will keep rats away, just wonder how many moths will have to be sacrificed to get enough...

Good thing you caught it before any serious damage happened.

Would have been a nightmare had it destroyed the wiring harness.

Damn, that sucks. Maybe you should start throwing some moth balls inside your garage to keep them away.

This came straight from the "tree Huggers" site (PETA)

If the rats are in a place that cannot be "rodent-proofed," such as a car engine, you can prepare a deterrent. Rats and other small animals cannot tolerate the scent or taste of pepper. Make a mixture of salad oil, horseradish, garlic, and plenty of cayenne pepper. Let this mixture sit for four days, strain it into a spray bottle, and spray it under the car's hood. This is completely safe for engine interiors, and it won't harm curious animals. Mothballs and peppermint oil–soaked cotton balls are also great rodent repellents and can be tucked into an engine to prevent rodents from chewing on electrical wires.
