No, the dental floss/fishing line trick is for the plastic or metal emblems. Decals that are stickers like the ones on the visors have to come off with patience like you experienced.

A dealer sticker has never remained on my car for more than a few hours. Fingernails are great.

When my Wife bought her Nissan, we got to the Dealer to pick it up, they had put a Big Lettered Decal of their Web Address, in the upper part of the rear window. I told the salesman he had 2 choices, either get that crap off the car now or the dealership will be signing paperwork made up by me agreeing to send us a check every month for $250 for an advertising fee for us driving around with that in the back window. He laughed at me and I told him I wasn't joking. I told him one of those two things were happening or we are leaving without purchasing the vehicle. The decal was gone in 5 minutes.

whenI bought my camaro, i told the salesman no stickers.when I went to pick it up there was the dealers sticker.I told him to take it off.when he brought the car around at the end of the paperwork the sticker was gone like it was never there.if you are concerned about removing the sticker, take it back to the dealer.they aren't going to lose a customer over a sticker.

I hate when they put that crap on your new car! The 1st thing I do is remove the stickers or plaque. I use goof off or goo gone for stickers and dental floss followed by goo gone for left over residue on plaques.

After reading ENDLESS daily threads about "my car got backed into", "my car got egged", "OMG somebody keyed my car", "the neighbors dumped cigarettes on my car", "turned traction control off and OMG look at the $9,500 in damage I caused. Will this buff out?".

It's cute to read a post by a new owner where it's still the end of the world to get the dealer sticker off, lol.

Fingernail, a few shots of 3M adhesive remover, and patience will do the trick.

I asked them not to install on my car too...they did.
First mod I did to the car was to remove it

Also, I had a clear coat put on my car, so if I take off the decal will the spot where the decal was look different then the other paint of the car?
huh? Your car is clear coated from the factory. If you had it done by the dealer, you probably just got shafted.
