MTI spoiler install with pics
Had to post up some pics and do a shout out for Gary of Gary's Customz I ordered the MTI spoiler through him and he did the prep and paint work for me. Just awesome work! Paint match is spot on. Work was fast and very high quality. It came to the house very protectively packed with excellent instructions included. Step one was remove the old spoiler. I highly recommend a few trim tools to make those plastic rivets easier to remove without damage.

Next step was to unbolt and remove the old spoiler. Beware that one plastic rivet under the stock spoiler. It is a bit of a pain. Trim tools and long needle nose pliers make short work of it.

clean up the mess
Eeeeeew gross what a mess. To remove the sticky adhesive I really like Goo gone. Cuts it quick and doesn't hurt the paint. Then after a few minutes cussing the paint damage caused be the stock spoiler it was time to hit those spots with touch up paint. I know they don't show, but I'll feel better knowing they are painted. Then two coats of wax under where the new spoiler will go. Again it is just to sooth my anal nature.

Get the new one ready
Then it is time to prep the new spoiler and mark the truck. Clean the edge of the new spoiler and apply the provided adhesion promoter. Put the clear cushion tape on and mark the edges of where it comes to and transfer those measurements to the deck lid. Remove the spoiler and vigorously clean the area where the cushion tape will touch the deck lid with alcohol to remove any wax. Then apply adhesion promoter to the deck lid.

Finish line
Finally the fun part! Put the new spoiler on nice and slow to make sure it is just right then put the nuts back on and put the plastic rivets back in to the truck liner. Little jem of wisdom here- When removing and replacing the nuts keep gravity on your side. Pull the deck lid down so that if you drop a nut it doesn't fall down inside the lid. Then stand back and check it out!!

I should also mention how happy I am that the MTI spoiler uses thick cushion tape and rubber washers to keep it from damaging the paint the way the stocker did.
