But its not the fastest Camaro ever produced. Weight plays an issue with this car.

I'm not saying it can't be done, it just takes seat time. Very seldom do I ever see one at the track so obviously folks just aren't racing them.

I drove my 99 SS to 11.7s on street tires with less power and less weight. The ZL is just so heavy...

stock I was not happy. I am content but not happy now. I will do headers, injectors, larger pulley this spring and see what that does for me.

who knows I might have to port the heads and run the Zr1 cam to be happy.

handling and drive I am pretty happy though. Love the way this car just soaks up any road at very high speed.

I see no point is holding on to power train waranty if your not happy with the powertrain. waranty is nice but this car is pretty meat and potatoes engine and transmission wise. if something happens It will just get bigger stronger faster.

If I would have bought the GT500 I proabably would have been content with the power but would be doing axels, clutch, suspension mods. No car is perfect. I was content with my Z06's power level but the suspension had ruthless snap oversteer at times and needed modification for sure.

Is your car a manual?

I think the biggest problem is that while cars have gotten more powerful, they also have gotten a lot heavier. This really is counter productive to performance.

I drove my father-in-laws new vette yesterday. It feel so much better than my ZL1 as far as the total driving experience ,and it's a lot less power. But, it also weighs a lot less.

I can't image what a ZR1 is like. That has to be death on wheels.

I know that when my car finally scares me, I can then stop modding

Is it so much power or the rear axle?

I love the way mine is right now! Modded. And yes it can scare you if your not ready for it. It's not like the old days of just put it on the floorboard. You have to drive this beast, control it, know when to pull on the reigns a little and when it's ok to give it the spurs! I freakin love it!!!!!

I may be in the extreme minority here, but the ZL1 has plenty of power for me. Not one single performance mod will be added. Not even a roto-fab CAI.This car is everything all the Car & Driver and Motortrend performance videos said it would be. Other than driving in a straight line balls out, how many of us are really capable of extracting every ounce of performance the stock LSA has to offer on a road course like the famous track that starts with an "N"?

As far as the car being heavy, I hear it all the time and not once have I ever thought about it while driving this car at a brisk pace. If I run out of gas two blocks from the Shell station, then I might have some concerns about the mass. With all that said, I really do enjoy seeing and reading all the cool stuff you guys do to these machines to make them what you'd hoped they would be. When I spent 60 grand on this car, I did so because I heard it was the baddest Camaro on the planet that you could obtain from the factory with a warranty and it will remain that for me.

...so much has been previously discussed on this topic, many do not use the search engine to query. And so it goes....

The factory built 1969 ZL1 Camaros under COPO 9560.

For a car with a total production run of only 69, the enthusiast magazines of the era took notice. Super Stock was the first, featuring the #1 car in full AHRA trim, and another of Gibb's, believed to be #5, in the May 1969 issue. The street version ran an incredible 11.64/122 mph with open headers and small 6-1/2 inch slicks. The #1 car ran 10.29/132 mph.

I purposely posted this for you Sven59. If your talking lap times the new ZL1 would eat an old one, I was just referring to straight line speed. The 69 COPO was rare, but it was production......

I'm just having fun
