Great suggestion! The redline ZL1 is at 750 whp with no modifications to the drive line and no issues to date. He says he has a number of ZL1s in the 800s with no issues to date as well.

I think i'll probalby go the ZL1 route...may wait for a little better price though.

I spoke too soon...just pulling the price on the Diff, axels & drive shaft on GMPartsDirect was a little over $3K, but added around $800 S&H. I guess i'll be calling my local Chevy dealer back...looks like they gave me a good price.

Why not the hammerhead? I mean obviously it is to save money, but being that the hammerhead shell is aluminum, your gonna be saving weight. not only that, but DSS stands behind their product, and if something goes wrong, your dealing with someone who is going to be a lot more willing to help than GM.

the axles would also be much stronger, and you can upgrade the driveshaft to a 1-piece while your at it for an overall smoother drivetrain.

To me it seems like a worthy investment for a couple grand more.

If your gonna spend 4k, why not 6k, right? haha

It's sprung weight. The center section is mounted to the chassis.

Why not just go with the flange from ADM? Probably cheaper.
I'll call my parts guy at my Chevy parts dealer to see if he can get it, I have to call him anyway to see what's up with the whole ZL1 IRS kit, an it's availability. I'm thinking of buying the axles, 1K HP DSS axles to the stock diff, I hear they bolt right up to the HammerHead since the dimensions are the same, then as the $ grows I'll add the HammerHead and the driveshaft.

The ADM adapter flange is $200 with the cost of the driveshaft i could be at gforce or dss one. Just trying to keep all ZL1 parts I have info saying they support some high numbers.

There is an entire ZL1 rear end assembly listed on ebay for 4 grand.

OEM Manual LSA Rear Suspension Assembly 3.73 Gear Ratio Cooler

Used with 2000 miles, but might save someone time gathering components.

Take yours out and go to a machine shop, and have the holes milled out.

Jason I'm in no real hurry, car isn't even out of storage yet. I'm just trying to find it the ZL1 trans flange will work with the ss trans and if there is a part number for it. Have you got a chance to play with the rear yet?

No. My zl1 fuel pump and msd voltage booster was the wrong combination according to Ted. So now I'm waiting on an LPE fuel pump to put in. I don't want to burn my car down but the waiting is killing me.
