OEM HID install.....2011 2SS.....pics and video

Got around to installing the OEM HID's into my dad's '11 SS today. I got the harnesses from Ottoman, they were absolutely easy as crap to install. All I had to do was splice in one wire for each side......it was a cake install all together. From start to finish (literally pulling the car into my garage, and having it ready to drive away).....it took about an hour.

Got the lights from GMPartsDirect.com.

Jacked the car up, didn't need to remove the wheels. Had the front bumper cover off in about 15 minutes.

The harness, wire already spliced in.....ready to plug into the headlight.

They look great.

Kind of random, but I got a picture of the LT's since I had to jack the car up.

All buttoned up.

And a walk around video after the install. If you have a subwoofer, the video sounds great with the long tubes.

Awesome! I want to do the same on my LS. Quick question, when you purchased the headlamp assembly, did it come with the OEM lights/ballast?

Very NICE!

That car sounds incredible. How much did the whole headlight mod cost you?

The OEM lights are fully loaded.

Don't even remember what the headlights cost.....if you go to GMPartsDirect.com and search "ptehidkit" I believe is the part number. Its both OEM headlights, but shipped together....saves like $150 handling from just buying them separate. Then there was the harness from Otto, which shipped out super quick.

Yeah, it has a nice grumble. The headers themselves are Pacesetters, which he bought uncoated. The collectors are Mickey Thompson Super Scavenger's......which are old school, which I guess my dad is as well. After the collectors were welded, we had them Jethot coated over in Burlington, NC.

Quick question about the splicing, why did you splice them to the fog light harness?? (I believe that's what I'm looking at in the photo) I thought I read that the black wire on the Ottobody harness was to be spliced to the middle wire on the original non-RS harness. I'm about to do my install once all the snow goes away Thanks for any info you can provide.

I tried searching GMPartsDirect for "ptehidkit" but nothing came up (anyone know how to find this?)

Browsed 2010 Camaro and found two sets of part numbers for HIDs:

92240994 HID Headlight, Left, MSRP=$900.43, $642.91 + $154.30 = $797.21
92240995 HID Headlight, Right, MSRP=$879.79, $642.91 + $154.30 = $797.21
92243101 HID Headlight, Left, MSRP=$808.36, $577.17 + $138.52 = $715.69
92243102 HID Headlight, Right, MSRP=$808.36, $577.17 + $138.52 = $715.69

Not sure which is correct, but the cheaper set is $1154 + S&H. I hope the combined HID kit is cheaper.

The wire splices in on the turn signals......the middle wire.

Got it, Thanks

The kit is $1,279.33 shipped from GMPartsDirect, which is much cheaper than the individual prices.
