This.

You might not even need the headers and cai.

The cai/headers were just suggested as they really woke the car up imo.

The M5 has a higher redline with 560hp and 502ft/lbs at 1500 rpm. Just a little heavier. 0-60 in 4.4 secs, which the 1LE can do stock.

"The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels that reduce unsprung weight." The smaller diameter would give a slight boost to axle ratio.

A ZL1 clone might be the answer: 0-60 in 3.9 secs/ qtr in 12.0. Traction must be the issue. GM performance parts has the LSA supercharger as a bolt on in their catalog if you want it dealer installed.

guys I skim read everything here since I'm away and on iPhone...

Regarding that m5 review link, that 4.4 sec time is 0-100 km btw, not 60mph , so basically the M5 is a 3.9-4.0 vehicle and RWD.

Ok, I think I should have been more specific with my question, as thankful as I am with all the input here.

I don't plan to drag race...but what I really want is this, so plz bare with me again. Let's say I'm on an open road (closed circuit) track, I'm doing 40mph, and there is a M5 right beside me, and we gun it......

This is the EXACT scenario that I want to improve on here.
I want Sledge to at least be able to keep up....

This is my dilemma here.

What you want is a highway hero. Gears and as much HP as you can afford. FI is probably gonna be your best bet. Something that doesn't fall off on the top end, if you plan to race to 160+mph.

Well I never said I wanted top speed. Just asking the min amount of $$$$ required, to make my ride just car as quick as an M5 when side to side, and not necessarily at the drag strip, but generally speaking. Turbo'ing is an obvious approach I'm looking at, but it's $6900 plus tuning as well. I'm only curious what is the bare minimum $$$$ from a NA approach in order to reach the aforementioned power goals.

This setup sounds interesting actually...

What would be the cost of this trio+1, considering a quality install with top notch parts?

Nitrous not really what I had in mind though, but interesting nonetheless.

From a 40 roll, you'd be in 2nd gear so you'd need some traction (drag radials), make more power (headers, air intake, ported intake), and I think gear would be good too.

There is a 12.8 stock posted for a 1LE, I think throw on some drag radials should be 12.4-12.5. Throw some bolt-ons on there and I think you'll be pretty strong. I don't see why you wouldn't pick up at least 5mph from bolt-ons.

Would $2000-$2500 max in normally aspirated mods be enough to accomplish what I wrote above as something to shoot for?

I'm a bit scared that it won't, and I'll end up not only paying that, but the cost of going FI after the fact, hence why I want to be sure it can be done at this price point.

If not, then I'm going to save up and go FI.

ProStockJohn can help you more there.. He's doing the bolt-on to 11s method and is much more knowledgeable there.

I went from stock to 660 crank in one shot, then added a bunch of suspension later, so while it can been done on OE tires, it's certainly more difficult to do and I spent about 5x that amount with all the parts/install then another 4k later in suspension before I sold and went to the Grand Sport.
