Camaro Breaks!

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but a couple of my Challenger buddies are ragging me because this 2010 broke at the NMCA Drag Race Series in Charlotte NC, Aug 6-9. The car was supposed to race against the Chally and '10 Mustang. Does anyone know what broke?

Sounds more like stage fright.

Actually, from the looks of the picture, the driver wasn't sure what car and engine combo he was working with and was going in to take a look around. Or, topping off the washer fluid bottle before his run.

No it was blinker fluid, and he had to put the smoke back in the main wiring harness.

Ahahaha, that is my car. Yeah the mopar guys there were not that friendly with the Camaro at the race.

Z MAx was not a good weekend for me. We installed a test trasmission and a different clutch on the Thursday before we left for the race. I had tried a standard rag style disc but it was stinky like the OEM clutch.

I liked the feel of the Carbon/Graphite clutch. On Friday when I went to do my burnout the car rolled into the dry in front of the water box and the tires stuck. The 305/35/20 Nitto's work very well and I smoked the clutch.

We installed a new Bronze Metalic clutch on friday night. On Saturday when I started my burnout the engine died and would not stay running. It would fire then quit running. I scanned the computer but we didn't have any codes.
Our first thought was the VATs system.
After lots time I traced the problem to the aftermarket Mass Air Meter. The meter is digital and one of the boards failed. I didn't see it at first because we had a good signal while the car started. Ater starting the car with the meter diconnected then re connecting the meter it was only ready half of the normal numbers.
SOP is to carry spare electronic parts, well I didn't have a spare.

I replaced the meter when I got home and the car fired and runs great.
I ran another 11.94 on Saturday in the heat.

If you work on anything at all your going to have bumps in the road. Most smart people realize this and are very careful about throwing stones.

Robin
