Can I build my motor?

You buy a ZO6 or ZR1 and you can opt to build the motor - any luck (please God) we'll be able to do the same with the ZL1?

How much is that option? I know there's a price tag for it just like the factory pickup.

Yes, for an extra $5,800 you can assemble your ZR1's engine.

It's only for ZR1, which is about 2 and half times the price of ZL1.

Yup. You also have a GM tech with you to make sure you assemble it properly.

So we will have to do the job and get charge another $5800 for it , i guess is that way because the production #s go down and the official engine builder get all stressed out from all the screw ups that he have to deal with !

Yeah, the techs basically getting paid extra to teach you and to make sure you don't screw up the engine.

Here's a video from chevy of an example of what you get to do.

I recently toured the GM facility that builds the LS7 & LS9 engines. It is an impressive facility. The build process is one builder follows the engine through the entire build. The builder then pts hits name on the engine. Talk about ultimate accountability... The only automation is a few multi spindle run down guns. They have great people and the best processes I have ever seen. They have one line dedicated to the customer build experience. They do not build the LSA, so it will not be part of that program.

I would love to do something like this. Unfortunately the LSA is made in Mexico. Doubt they would have us go to mexico to build our engine. It would be nice to get a factory tour as well. And maybe a Spring mountain driving course specifically for the ZL1. That would be a three country tour!

Check GMs website. It is ZR1 and ZO6.

it's for any engine assembled at the performance engine build facility...

The LSA is not built at that facility to my knowledge, so its highly unlikely.
