SS owners to 1LE?

Just curious how many people traded from their standards SS to a 1LE?
i just saw another one a few days ago at the dealer, beautiful.
Is it worth the upgrade if your not at the track all the time? For the people that have switched or driven both how much of a difference is there.. Is it night and day?

Ones I know do track the car or didnt own a Camaro before, and modded it even more.If not would be a big waste of money with the trade in/sell loss, more down etc I know as I did a LT to SS TRADE.You can add the suspension parts or better aftermarket for less other then the gearing and zl1 trans etc.But if doing events alot with big fast road courses would be good to have all that for longevity I guess.Though the fastest guys out here have SS's

Not a big difference between and SS and 1LE. Not enough motivation to spend the extra dollars. I would rather go ZL1.

If I had bought one as a track day car, I would consider it. But since I don't have "track day car" money, I'll pass.

big waste of money, not that special at all. But if you're a first time buyer and like to race a lot then get it. I personally don't care for it at all...

EDIT: I know people are gonna get offended and cry so when I say big waste of money, not special at all I mean trading your ss to a new 1le isn't worth it. It’s not gonna blow your mind, if you want something impressive then get a zl1

I think it would cost less money to build your SS to 1LE specs or even faster. Granted you'd probably lose your warranty modding it, especially with new gears.

Its essentially a very similar car. I wouldnt go 2ss to ss 1le. Its not faster in the quarter if that matters

I heard the opposite. There was a thread of someone doing the full conversion and said the extra price from GM is a deal compared to A DIY

I would say someone coming from a 2010 SS might get enough value out of buying a 2013 1LE to justify it. With the 2013 having HUD, Backup sensors, Camera, Mylink, Nav, updated interior, revised suspension, and then tack on the 1LE goodies. I could see someone making a case for it. I would never get rid of my 2010 but I'm sure there are those out there that would upgrade a little.

I dont mean converting to 1LE parts. Meant using aftermarket parts to make yours faster than a 1LE. The wheels are what makes the 1LE seem cheaper, so expensive to buy them aftermarket.

I drive an SS and am on here quite a bit and I'm not TOO embarrassed to admit that I still don't really understand what a 1LE is so I'm pretty sure 99.99% of the general public doesn't either. I know it has some upgraded suspension items but that's about the extent of my understanding. I'm kind of surprised GM/Chevy came out with this sub-model. I've never seen one and I live and drive in a fairly large metro area daily.

Really, I thought the gears and close ratio trans would help with acceleration.

I'll be trading in my 2011 SS for a 2013 1LE here in a few weeks once it's built and delivered. I'm not going to track it - the MM6 TR6060, 3.91 gears, killer rims, suspension bits, navigation and backup camera are enough to consider it an upgrade. Lastly - and probably most important to my wife - the passenger seat will go up and down now Going from a 2012 SS to a 2013 1LE may require more thought - but the 2012+ models brought alot of new features as compared to 2010/2011. This will be my 3rd 5th-gen and I'm very much looking forward to it!
