Arrow All Season Tire Poll

For those of us in the NY metro Area or other cold climates who will drive the Camaro all year round, the tires the car comes with will not work. The colder those tires get the worse the traction (especially below 40F). Forget about driving it in snow of any kind. You wont even be able to move it from one side of the street to the other. After looking around I realized that GM picked some very odd size combos and there are not to many choices. My first choice is usually Good Year, but they don't have anything in this size. I did some research based on the choices and narrowed it down to 2 possibilities. Below are the two I'm left with. One of them is a lower profile tire which is a whole question in itself and the other is not in the usual top 3 brands of tire but has a pretty strong rating. Whats your opinion? We'd like to know!

I didn't get the RS package for this specific reason. I ordered a 1LT. I am going to put aftermarket rims/tires on (20"), but I still have the 18" to play around with in the winter?

Get a new smaller rim (18") with either Michelin X-Ice Tires or Bridgestone Blizzak Tires. No reason to put an "All Season" Tire on in the winter. If your going to switch out each winter, put real winter tires on. Cheaper, let those rims take the salt abuse.

The factory Pirellis Tires All Seasons for the 1lt and 2lt should be fine for winter.. i had similar tires on another Rear wheel drive vehicle and drove with no difficulties but then again it does depend on how carefully u drive in the winter and it does depend on the location..

but you can get by with them for sure

Only the LT has all season tires. The SS has summer only tires that are no good in cold or snow.

Yes... I know thats why I said LT..

It is a shame tho for the SS trim levels that all-seasons were not a option

They will probably change it later in the year or for 2011. Every Chevy I have had, has had an option for all season tires or like the Pontiac G8 GXP which says on all the sites and paperwork that it comes with summer only tires with no way to order it any other way but meanwhile I went to see one when it came in and it had Good Year all seasons.

I want to do inexpensive wheels for the winter just like TheNet suggests. It would be great if we could create a list of what would work. I'm sure that some wheels from the junkyard would be just fine if we knew what was needed and could match them to the cars they came on.

i appoligize in advance if this has already been posed but I cant seem to find it.

Is there a chart or list anywhere of the Wheels sizes that will fit on this vehicle? I have the 18" wheels and am looking for a good set of winter tires and wheels....
