migraines

Don't get one. Earlier, I was rolling around in excruciating pain for over 3 hours. Don't let this happen to you.

In case I get another one in the future, do you guys know any good remedies? I've only had 4 in my lifetime, and they all are the most painful experiences of my life. Today, I tried Excedrin. It failed me. In the past, I tried soup, a hot bath, and sorbet. Let me know if you guys have any good ideas.

my husband gets Maxalt-MLT from his Dr. it works great.

Also try laying down with an Icepack on the neck or the side of your face.

the thing is with that kind of stuff you have to wait it out. with the stuff my husband uses, it starts right away because it desolves in the mouth & heads straight to the head releasing & relaxing the blood vessels.

You would know about migraines. You're name is headpunter. You've probably been known to cause them.

I get them as well. :(

Be careful using too much Motrin...I was taking 600mg a few times a day when I was having back problems, and it wreaked havoc.

I try and stick to Excedrin Migraine, which helps dull the pain. Unfortunately in my case, it takes a couple of days for the pain to subside.

I'd try Excedrin, along with a cold compress (if you are able).

Try to think back to what you ate or drank that day. Record it for future reference. Was it something you haven't had in a while? My wife used to suffer from migraines a few times a year, she has narrowed it down to several things she used to eat, like chocolate, yeast, food perservatives, etc. Its quite a long list, but the bottom line is that since she has stopped consuming those things she no longer has the migraines. The place to start is to remember if you consumed anything out of the ordinary that day.

Good Luck

I had Chipotle. I can tell you that my burrito—2 scoops of hot sauce, cheese, a little sour creme, extra rice, meat (either chicken, steak, or barbacoa)—had nothing to do with my headache. I used to work there, and they use the cleanest meat I've ever seen. Also, I'm somewhat addicted to the place, so I go there at least 3 times a week.

Two pressure points, one on either side of your spine on the back of your neck, up near the base of your skull. Two fingers each side, press. It will hurt for a second, then the headache should start to ease up. A couple of minutes of this and most of the time my migraines are GONE! One in awhile this doesn't kill it completely, but it helps, and you can do it yourself.

Follow up with a nap.

Are you sure it was a migraine? I get headaches that last for anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days a couple times a year. These headaches are so severed I can't lay in bed trying to sleep without throbbing/acute pain like someone's trying to force a needle into my frontal lobe and medula oblongata at the same time.

Up until lately, I had no remedy, but just recently, my g/f went to the doctor for her checkup and found out she was super congested (breathing fine, no pain, no symptoms except not being able to sleep easily), which really shocked me. So I tried sudafed for my next headache and it worked. I've had one since then that sudafed hasn't helped at all, so I know I still get migraines, but you may want to go see if you are congested by a doctor or try sudafed/decongestant next time you get a headache.
