I hear the same knocking/rattling sound, but only when I turn the ignition off and it only happens for a second when the engine shuts off. Is this normal for the stock isolator? Or does that mean it's going bad and I'll soon have to replace it with a solid one? Every time I turn my car off, I cringe. However, there is no noise at all when idling.

I have 24k miles and have heard the marbles rattling sound for a while. Finally found a good time to take it dealer and have an appt for tomorrow. Hopefully they don't try to give me the run around because of the mods i have.

The dealer should and will most likely take photographs of your engine compartment, and then upload your ECU data to GM to confirm the absence of a "tune". I have a catch can, Roto-Fab, and separate reservoirs for brake and clutch. The tuning is what GM is concerned about.

Mine was replaced under warranry with mods and a tune. In my experience, be upfront and honest and you shouldn't have an issue. Print off the TSB as well to bring in.

IIRC, GM also gives you the option of reimbursing you if you install a solid coupler yourself.

So do they put a solid isolator on the car when they replace the parts?

I was up front and honest about my mods. ( none to the SC ) and was refused a replacement. They also put a block on my entire power train so I can never take it to the dealer for warranty. Mine slightly rattles at idle and has since break in, I now have 20,000 modded miles on it, and it still only slightly rattles at idle. I Know a GM mech. that will replace it for me for 350.00 plus the coupler. I'll
wait to see if it gets worse.

They replace the entire supercharger. The new one has a solid isolator.

That sucks. I'd find a new dealer.

I think I'd talk to the Service Manager and/or an attorney. The Moss and Magnuson Act prevents them from just outright denying your warranty.

Magnuson Moss Warranty Act
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part
unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle
(per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working
with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your
vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or
. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or

www.ftc.gov. For additional information, check out the following links: www.zabteck.com/MagnusonMossWarrantyAct.pdf

I was hoping gm would have a fix for it. I did not want them to just replace with the same parts that would go bad again. If they did I was going to get the solid isolater and have them install it while they had it down.Good to know.

I honest can't remember how many it had, when replaced. It couldn't have been many because I only have just over 6,000 on it now. My wasn't having a problem. It was done because my dealer friend suggested because I told him about people on here having the issue.
