exhaust modifications that will keep warranty

i was just curious if anyone out there has found an exhaust that maintains the gm warranty. i bought the 2ss rs and i dont like the sound of the exhaust. for having a muscle car it sounds weak. i really need to make this puppy roar! i have watched all the clips and decided that i like the straights the best, but obviously my warranty will be shattered! has anyone bought the gm kind yet? are there any others out there that i could have put on and keep warranty? thanks

Whatever part you replace if that part fails or anything can be directly linked to the part fails that is the only thing not covered. It is not a umbrella warranty and the minute you install something its all gone. If you put mufflers on your car and your engine blows, I am pretty sure they will give you a new one. This has been discussed over and over and over again.

no-weeds. if for some reason, your engine breaks, replace stock pipe (all of 5-10 minutes) and take it in. you can run straight pipes or stock exhaust note for normal cruises.

My dealer has said that if I install an aftermarket exhaust that they will cover the warranty, but if I get out on the highway and some other dealer wants to be a butt, he could not warranty what ever fails. Guess I just have to pray nothing happens on the road. I'm really not worried about, if I go some where the car will go in the trailer.

You could get the GM Shorty Headers and the GM Axle Back exhaust. I have the axle back and boy did it change it to a nice Bassy sound.

Why are yall so hell bent over being careful with your exhaust and keeping this particular warranty ?

By replacing headers or anything EXHAUST wise the only warranty you are voiding is an exhaust warranty. Which means if anything goes wrong with the exhaust you cant have the dealership fix it Whoopieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

IF you get a muffler leak then go to a muffler shop.

This is not considered part of the powertrain warranty like a Cam,Tune or supercharger would void.

To hell with the exhaust warranty lol

Just talked with my dealership's service manager this morning and he said an axel back would not kill the warranty. Didn't ask about headers or cats.

Yeah, guys at the dealership have been recommending axle backs (even muffler delete axle backs such as SLP loud mouth).

Once you start messing with long tube headers and high flow cats, you're moving into a completely different territory. Some dealerships don't mind them, while some others will fight you every inch of the way.
Headers significantly increase HP which can break other parts on the car (dealership arguement). And you really need to get your car tuned if you run long tubes.

Shorty headers are OK if you leave the stock cats alone.

You can do just about any aftermarket exhaust system you want from the very last cat and back. Once you change the Headers and cats, then you are in danger of voiding warranties. There are 4 (2 each pipe) cats just after your manifolds under your driver's section of the car, 1 mm after than, chop it off and do what you want. Straight pipe, Loudmouth II, or Magnaflow, whatever you want. You can even remove the fat resonator (L99 engines that is )

Seriously..I would just wait...the exhaust seems to open up over time. I hated how quiet my car was at first...but over time it got louder and more pronounced...I LOVE the sound of it now
