Stock engine, broken axle?

I am not one to run my car hard at all but today I wanted to do a nice holeshot.. shut traction and stabilitrak off and dumped it at about 4k, lit them up real nice just like I wanted shifted into second then pop grind grind grind... Broke the pasenger side axle at wheel???.. car only has exhaust and intake, no tune. The car is lowered, would that throw of the axles and cause this? WTF? the car only has 780 miles on it.. dealer said no problem, we will tow it in and fix it

But what I dont like is the fact that it might happen again. I shouldnt have to upgrade axles on stock engine

you can see where I shifted to second, it spun just a bit then broke. You can see the grease on the road on the pasenger side

That's a pretty common problem with these cars. If your going to carry on like that you should get some Hendrick HP axles.

its not so much the hp as the traction and wheel hop that breaks things

Dumping the clutch and doing massive burnouts with a stock suspension will do that. And I'm pretty sure that falls under running the car hard.

You should consider trailing arms, toe rods, and subframe bushing inserts or replacements to prevent wheelhop. Then you won't break them again the next time you do a burnout. Wheelhop will break even upgraded axles and differentials. I just did the bushings and the other trailing arms and toe rods will happen in a month or two. I don't want to take it to the track until I do so I can ensure what happened to you doesn't happen to me. You have an awesome dealer for replacing axles next to big burnout tracks.

it's the wheel hop.... Will do this every time.

Surprised with stock it got bad enough to break the axle but it sure can happen. Toe rods and trailing arms!!!!!! Need to do mine as well!!

+ 1 If one feels wheel hop, let off the gas.

Since this is just a smokin-of-the-tires, next time in stead of a straight line, sway to one side or another or a slight "S" and wheel hop usually does not happen. Try all four and you will see that straight line is the only time your wheels will hop and snap shafts. Also there is to much stress in a straight line.....

4K drop is a hell of a shock to the drivetrain. I am sure that did not help any either.

Or, how about using Launch Control? Wouldn't that prevent wheel hop?

If i were you I wouldn't go posting the pic of your "Burnout" online.. The dealer is going to fix it but I mean.. This isn't a normal acceleration issue that caused your problem..
