What is the best option?
Let me start off by saying a few things. I'm 16 and very grateful for the things my parents have provided for me. I know I am lucky to even have the chance to have my own first car. So please do not think of me as your average teenager, I'm not.
My parents have told me they will be getting a new car soon for me. I want to save them as much money as possible. They both like the new Camaro. I LOVE the Camaro. My "dilema" do I purchase a v6 RS package new? Or go the SS route used? I see some great SS used with low miles and the RS package locally! Is the SS too much? I don't like to speed by the way. I tried it in my neighbors vette stingray, I just don't like speeding. Also, are the cloth seats easy to stain? Thanks for reading and any input is really really appreciated. EDIT: I am no grandma on the road either! I'm just not into that whole 100mph cris cross through the lanes kind of person. I love being thrown into the seat, but that has more to do with the torque. Its great that you appreciate your parents generosity. I would go with a new V6/RS. The V6 still has plenty of power specially for someone who does not like speed, Its a great car, take one for a drive.
I'm not sure about the seat's I have leather but when I was in high school I had a 73 Camaro with cloth seats and I didn't have a problem keeping them clean Good luck! |

Personally think the SS is too much "horse" for an inexperienced driver. TEST DRIVE them both and get the one you're most comfortable with.

^^ Agreed, plus insurance will be cheaper in the v6 and the v6 isnt that bad. If I was your age I would love to have one. I would have killed myself with 425 hp, I was out of control with 190....hahahahaha

this, plus as someone stated, if you're not into speed why get the ss? If you get the V6 it'll also be awesome in hp, but better mpg, which at 16 (imo) you might value being able to go more places with friends w/o having to worry about gas all the time.

I would go for the SS. If what you are saying is true and you are a responsible driver why not go for the SS? If mom and dad are going to help out then go for it! If not get the V6. You are young and will be able to get an SS when your out and have a job.

As you can see you will get some from both sides. It will come down to you. What is best for you. Talk to your parents and find out works best for all.

If you don't like speeding, want comfort and a nice looking ride, but want speed when you need it - V6. I suggest trying a 2LT RS still cheaper than an SS but it's leather and very nice. I'm 16 and have an LT. I love my Camaro and enjoy modding it even more! It's a great car either way. I'm as grateful to my parents as you are and it's a beautiful first car

go with the V6 RS - You'll love the performance, it's much less on insurance, particularly for a teenager, less for gas (regular vs. premium) and looks great. As for cloth seats vs. leather...cloth seats are easy to care for, and, if you live in an area of the country where it's warm most of the time, (FL, CA, AZ, etc.) you won't burn yourself sitting on a hot leather seat til the AC cools things off. If you really want leather, get the 2LT and get the leather interior. Whatever one you get, you'll love it!

Wow guys thanks for the quick and great opinions. I just did some more talking with my parents. Of course my dad says "Get the SS" My mom keeps telling me to continue to search for any Camaro 2010-2011 and create a list and compare them on my own. Chose the best package/price and such. BTW I'm in MA if any of you guys know of some great deals!
