Ported throttle body and CAI still show good gains?

if you have a CAI and get a Ported throttle body, will you still see some good gains from the Ported TB? or with they dilute each other a good respectable amount?

i have a injen CAI and i recently installed a ported throttle body. I can't speak to exact hp numbers, but after i installed the TB i noticed a noticable increase in the low-midrange rpms. Also, there was an imporvement in throttle response. I have had my CAI for 2 years, so the performance increase from that has become normal for me, however after i installed the tb i did notice my car responded better.

Depends on if it is a hand ported or a CNC cut TB. Both are worth it for the throttle response and the CNC unit will give additional power.

I can offer up this from my setup. My first mod was a CAI Inc intake. helped with throttle response and sound of course. Still lagged though when i punched it. I added a CNC Vmax TB and all the lag was gone and it had some giddy up. This was short lived though as very shortly after install the car was hesitating and surging. Would bog down on the shifts as well. I discovered i had a "weak" MAF sensor. I dropped in a "strong" one and presto. Everything cleared up and it now runs like a champ.

It was determined that once i added the additional airflow from the TB along with the intake that the weak MAF could not handle that properly. With the combination i have now it has way better response than stock. My 1/4 times dropped by about 2 tenths as well.

thanks to tracy, i just received my CNC TB this evening. took all of 15 min to swap out. i've already got the Injen CAI, LT headers w/ hi-flo cats, and exhaust. i haven't really had the opportunity to test it out yet...that'll come tomorrow. but what i did notice is that at low idle, the peddle i normally use to cruise through the neighborhood is more than what i need now. at 15mph it was that noticeable.

im 99.9% sure that everybody who has added a ported TB has some kind of intake sitting right in front of it. and i haven't seen anybody post a negative comment or negative feedback on the ported TB yet. if you still have questions...do a bit more research. there is a lot of info and testing that has already been done.

good luck

Thanks hapisok. I appreciate the input. Time to start saving up some more cash money.

Just for fun, does anyone have any before and after pic to kind of show how much of a difference it make inside of it???

I know there is an awesome write up of the process, but there wasn't a before pic.

I am going to see Tracy on Saturday for the install.

Just out of curiosity, I see no difference between the 2 (but obliviously there is a difference), can you point to what is different.

I've got one on order. Wish I had ordered it sooner to try it out on the track on Saturday.

if you look at the thickness of the wall...the opening of the one on the left is much thicker compared to the one on the right where it has been CNC'd out.
