Might lose the Nitrous

After having to have my drive axles replaced, Im seriously reconsidering running nitrous any longer. I have put a total of about 25 runs on the strip using 75-150 shot. I really want to see where I can get with the 150 shot but Im wondering if it is worth it to take a chance especially with the engine issues that peeps are having. Your thoughts?

Risk = $ You're probably not gonna die but if you can't afford to fix it I'd pass on it.

So, was it 11.5 or BUST that came first? Just throw some better axles in and have at it if that is what makes you happy... Tho be prepared to pay the piper down the road as something else WILL break eventually.

Nitrous is a cruel mistress... The rush of the instant torque is very addicting. You will continue to push until you probably do break something.

Not sure if there are better axles for the automatic v6... Might also watch eBay for an inexpensive take out LLT. Probably cheaper and quicker to do a swap than fixing yours if you do break it.

Or like you said... Perhaps time to rethink the juice...

I'm waiting on Nitro Dave to release his specific V6 plate system for the LLT and then limit to 100hp shots. IMO, there will be no other V6 specific system released safer and of higher quality than Dave's. I have a manual and not sure if having the SS rear will help, but heck, I'm more worried about the tranny blowing than the axles. Axles are cheap and would rather have those go before anything else.
And now that the V6 superchargers are going on....I'm really wondering how those V6 trannys and rear's will hold up. My sense is we will soon see a lot of broken parts. Time will tell....

I would say the automatics are holding up pretty well. The clutch in the manuals seem to be an issue. Not sure well the tranny itself will do.

So what is a safe amount. I was contemplating this down the road. Don't drive the car everyday. usually 1x a week at best. was think about a 35 shot for that whenever I feel like it hit. Cant see a 35 shot being bad over the long haul, could it.

What was the issue with the shafts? Are they weaker than the M6 or SS?

If you are not using an unusual amount of oil now, I wouldn't be concerned about the engine....

The axles on the A6 V6 are puny. If you've got the money I'd get a used differential from an SS or a M6 V6 and put some good axles and a custom drive shaft on it. However, only you can decide it it is worth the time and money.

Can the rear drive train from a SS be swapped into a A6 LT? I'm gonna be upgrading soon and I'll have all the left over parts. Can the Axles be swapped if someone blows a stock A6 LT axle?

Axles from the SS will not swap with the A6 V6 but they should work fine on the M6 V6 (they have the same differential). Several of us have swapped our pumpkin and axles with SS take offs. You have to change the drive shaft a bit, but it is doable. Sounds like you should PM Rod1 when you get ready to swap. What are you going with?

Really looking at the Lingenfelter rear diff kit. If not I can trade in my DSS axels and get the DSS 9" kit.

For the V6's the V8 diff swap should be sufficient with some BMR parts.

The hubs on the auto V6 are smaller than the v8. To do the swap you need the V8 diff, axles, hubs (available from Gene@GMPartsHouse.com) and the driveshaft. The driveshaft separates and the V8 rear portion will fit the front of the V6.

I have a complete V8 diff, axles, driveshaft, etc. FS if anyone wants it.
