You can use the engine primer for it? I seen the color I wanted but for the engine. Would it be better to just buy the g2 kit. Or buy the engine pait like you did. Yours came out real good.

And this is 3 coats hi heat engine enamel and 3 coats hi heat engine clear.
G2 is the cheap way. Do it right. Takes about a week with the cure on the paint. Powdercoating lasts better and is more durable but is costly. I did mine for $30 or less. |

Biggest thing is the prep. The calipers must be 110% free of dirt, grease, fluid, oil, etc.
I spent over an hour on each caliper just cleaning them. |

Could you tell me the steps you did to apply, and what you taped off, I have my brembos sitting in the garage, still deciding on color.

Ok... Since they are off...
Remove the pins, pads, bleeder valve and the small rigid line that carries the fluid to the front of the caliper from the rear. It's on the buttom. Once you have the pads broken down, put bolts in all the holes to keep water from cleaning and paint from going in the holes. Once you have the holes plugged, clean the holy living daylights out of them. You ca have ZERO dirt on them. It takes a while but it's very important. Once they are perfectly clean, scuff them up with some like 400 grit. Mainly to remove the embossed brembo and Chevrolet. I did not get too carried away with this. Wash them to get all the dust off, let dry overnight. MASKING: all I masked off was the 4 pistons and rubber seals on the inside of the calipers. I taped it off them cut it to fit so the only thing that wasn't painted were the seals and pistons. PAINTING: follow the directions on the can. Mine said coat evenly, recoat less than 1 hour, let cure 7 days. So, I held them up by the bolts you are going to remove, painted the caliper, set it out of the way and did the next one. By the time I finished all 4, I went back to #1 for coat 2... and so on. Once I got the 3 coats of red, I waited about 30 minutes and put on the decals I got from eBay. 4" front, 3.25" rear. After I stuck the stickers, I repeated the process above with 3 coats of clear. I let them sit for 7 days to cure and then reinstalled the pads, spring plate and pins. Then I installed everything back on the car and bled the system. Been great since. I have some more pics I can post when I get to my laptop. |
