Fastlate Pipeline Cold Air Intake

Fastlane**************** damn misspelling sorry guys

Anyone have any experience with this? pros/cons... ever have any problems with sucking in water since the pipe is lower on the Camaro?

I have been using one for the last year and half with no issues. One thing to note you will need to get your car tuned with this Intake.

Every type of intake has it's pros and cons, you just have to look at your plans for your car and decide which design best fits your needs. Here is a link to an article that discusses intake selection. It has some info on the long tube design like the Pipeline and a couple of the other popular designs.

it looks like you have orange accents on your car. i have one for sale that is custom hydrodipped if you are intrested. it is dipped in a skull pattern that is very close to Inferno orange. $260 shipped.

Yeah I have the inferno orange accents. And that hydrodipped one is sick. Just not sure if I want to get a cai that I'm forced to do a tune. I'd rather get something that will do the job with out a tune.

I'll take a look. Thanks. What about CAI intakes? I see a lot of people have these. Proved performance w/o tune?

You don't have to get a tune, it's just recommended. The trims won't be so far off that your ECM can't adjust, but it WILL run a little lean. I think mine was around 12% or so at worst. I drove my car with the Pipeline and no tune for a year. I had Solo HF cats and ported throttle body that whole time too.

If I remember the CAI test correctly, the Pipeline made the most power. It sucks from a standstill though. It heatsoaks bad. I get pretty nervous if I get caught in a heavy rain. You wouldn't want to drive through very much water at all.

If I had it to do again, I'd probably get the Pipeline again. Just be aware of the things you need to be aware of and you'll be fine.

It is one of the best looking intakes IMHO.

Hmmmm interesting GM High Tech says it's the fastest accelerating CAI intake....

", Fastlane and LMR looked great, with Fastlane sitting atop the group in terms of fastest acceleration."

I know you research the crap out of these intakes! Nothing wrong with that at all. Here is a datalog after my JRE tune. It illustrates what I'm talking about with the heat soak very well. Notice the timing being pulled and being unstable. It almost perfectly inversely mirrors the IAT plot as I get going. I can feel all of this happening on acceleration. You have to kind of wade through the different plots, but there is enough information there to illustrate quite well the problem with such a long intake tube. I don't believe I have read what GMHTP had to say about it, but this is what I know about it .

I know my heat soak was so bad on my stock set up that the AC wouldn't blow anything but hot air in the summer......

Is it that hot or do you still get cold air out of your AC?
