Why No Convenience and Connectivity Package on the 1SS?

Why is there No Convenience and Connectivity Package on the 1SS?. i would go for the 2ss, but the cost of leather is like almost 4 grand. and i can't exactly afford that. will this change in the future?

Its all about marketing. They want you to spend the extra bucks on the 2SS.

Isn't it an option on the 1SS?

no not an option as of right now. and chrisinlittlerock, that doesn't really make sense considering that it is an option on the 1LT

Some people don't seem to get that the SS peg is not a linear upgrade from the LT peg. It's an more like just engine upgrade.

LS(good options)->1LT(better options)->2LT(best options)
1SS(better options)->2SS(best options)

Not LS->1LT->2LT->1SS->2SS

Or put another way (in general terms)
LS = stripper
1SS Options = 1LT options+SS Perks
2SS Options = 2LT options+SS Perks

I think the 1SS should get most of the options. The C&C package is a HUGE option with the steering wheel controls. It so common to see it standard these days its a bummer to not even be able to get it at all on the 1SS.

Also why cant there be an option for ultralux seating if you cant get leather in the lower models? That would be a great 600-700 option.

The 2LT, technically, would rate higher than the 1SS as far as luxury. It might be worth noting that the 1LT may have a few more options than the 1SS. The logic here is that the 2SS is the fully loaded machine. The 1SS is intended to be a bare bones machine. If a buyer can throw down the money on a V8, then it only makes sense that they spend an extra few grand on the luxuries they want. The 1LS might be a batter comparison to the 1SS. You could also look at it as I see it below.

1LS___1LT___2LT
___1SS___2SS___

Some will say that the 1SS trim is simply between the LS and 1LT but the only way it fits between them is because it lacks one option (C&C Pacakage), at the same time GM takes the leather wrapped steering part of the C&C and makes it standard on the 1SS along with the spoiler and 20" wheels so it's a bit of a circular arguement either way.

Obviously some bean counters at GM believe people buying a $30k+ car are more already are more likely to bite the bullet and go all out for the higher trim package if they really want the C&C features than people buying cars in the $20's are. Personally I find the logic questionable but it's the only reasoning I can think of that's even halfway reasonable.

I think they figure that this will convince a lot of people to step up to the 2SS for at least a few years. Then in a couple of years they will start offering it as an option. The people buying the car for the first 2 or so years are probably enthusiasts who are just happy to have a Camaro. After that, Chevy will need to add the options that the general public wants to make the car competitive in all categories.

The C&C package is a $465 upgrade on the 1LT. But the price difference between the 1SS and the 2SS is $3K. If the only difference between the 1SS and the 2SS was the leather seats and heated mirrors NO ONE (IMO) would buy the 2SS.

As has been beaten to death in other threads, these cars cannot be infinitely customizable. And I think GM also wanted to make sure that there was enough of a difference between the 1SS and the 2SS to make it worth the price difference.

I originally ordered the 1SS but after thinking about the hassle of having to upgrade the sound system with something custom, and the fact that I didn't quite like the look of the cloth seats in the 1LT that I test drove.. plus the included conv and conn features I just said what the hell and went all the way.
