Basically if you "squeeze" a larger tire on a smaller wheel you put added pressure on the bead. This could cause the tire to actaully pop off the rim under hard cornering... the worst possible time! Also it would cause the tire to cup and wear unevenly.

The same can be said for a tire that is too small for a wheel. It has to "stretch" the fit... not good.

Certain wheels can only use certian widths... period. forcing different size tires on a wheel that it wasnt meant for is just asking for disaster.

How much is it to widen the stock wheels? I had 315s on my vette and they were bad ass looking.

right. it sucks but we are stuck with 275s or new wheels.

I like the idea of widening the front wheel to 10.5, getting a 305 and putting the 275 rears on the front of the car but no idea what it costs to widen the front wheels. Probably cheaper to jsut get aftermarket wheels. Plus a 305 pirellis is big bucks! I believe its a tire produced for Ferraris. IIRC

Here is the thread on what I did the other day.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161860

I cannot go any wider without spacers, even then it would cause issues I believe.
