I feel as if you just took an L peice of Plastic and ran it from the spaces in the grill, to the dropdown off th stock intake would be fairly effective system. yes/no?

That probably would be. But am so glad I went the way I did. The sound change is incredible! For some reason I can't upload a picture to this thread right now.

if anything i would think it would be best to turn that thing at a 45* angle down. because right now your only catching the hot a$$ air that is hanging out in the top of the hood with no shielding.

Yeah. I'm gunna make a scoop and a heat shield soon when I get some time off work. Paint it when I move back to school. Hopefully that'll help it run better.
I also don't know if that filter will fit if I put a bend in the pipe.
But right now in this Texas heat I don't think there's any escaping the hot air under the hood..

They say it takes three hours if you know what you're doing and I don't. I'll be doing it step by step following the video instructions. And no assistance like they recommend. So I figure its a six hour job or more at my skill level and no assistant. But it looks good on the pre-install test check. All the colors work so now I'm really looking forward to getting this install done. I'm doing the install in my driveway so I'm at the mercy of Mother Nature.
I'm just putting my car back together after doing the Colored Halo kit...and some other stuff. It ain't the easiest mod I've ever done. Matter of fact, I've had to break it up into bits and pieces cuz I've had so many interruptions, there's no way I could have done this in my driveway.

I think the hardest part was getting the heat sink screws in and out to make the LED change. Having a long Torx bit is pretty much mandatory.

But it works now and I've added kick panel switches for the Afterburner taillights and an underhood LED strip. I haven't completed the last part.

Here are a few photos of what I did/am doing:

Yeah, it definitely looks like a tough job. I see you're on jack stands and pulled the wheels off. A couple folks recommended I do the same. Sounds like we have similar setups. I'm also putting LEDs, Red, but that's for the grille lighting. I was really thinking of doing a hard wired switch for the show mode on my afterburner taillights then someone suggested just getting a RP100 Remote Switch. $18 on eBay and took less than 5 minutes to install. So right from the drivers seat I can click on/off show mode. How long did it take you, if you didn't have all the interruptions? I think the pictures tell the story, definitely doesn't look like an easy job.
