So tell me.. what's it like driving the SS compared with faster sports cars?
Right now the car I drive does 0-60 in 5.9s. Not too shabby but I'm already bored of the acceleration and thirst for more. Previous cars were in the mid 7s or so.
So I'm wondering if after owning the SS a while (haven't got mine yet), I will get bored of the acceleration (because I've already grown accustomed to 5.9s and it's too slow now, maybe 4.6s will be the new "slow" once I get the SS?). I guess in the grand scheme of things, one doesn't get bored of it if one knows that you can't get much better than what one has. If you already owned the fastest car out there, you aren't going to be yearning for something faster - because there isn't anything out there. I want something more than my current car because there are much faster cars than my own for not much more money. My point is: has anyone owned some really fast sports car like a 911 Turbo or something (3.9s), and can compare it with the SS? If the SS "feels" like the 911 Turbo, then I won't feel that I could do "better". But if current SS owners are already getting "bored" with the power and are yearning for something more - then perhaps I should consider getting the Z/28 instead. (I am getting my Camaro in 2011 so if the Z/28 does not come out in 2011 then I won't have a problem with deciding which Camaro to get). So for people who own cars that do 0-60 in 3.9s. How does it compare when switching over to the Camaro? Does the Camaro feel "slow" by comparison? Most people think 7.5s is "fast", but if I'm used to 5.9s - then 7.5s is slow. So if you own a car that does 3.9s - does the 4.6s Camaro SS feel "slow"?

It will never be fast enough. You'll always want more. That's why they made Superchargers/Turbo

my modded SS auto(l99) camaro does 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds on stock tires which feels a lot faster than the stock camaro however you do get used to it so it's all relative. My car doesn't feel as fast as it did when I first had the mods done just because I am used to it now. So however fast you go I suppose you can always go faster. But do I want more speed ? Not really, 3.8 is quick enough and with drag radials I'm sure I could do better but it's good enough and driving around town it's kind of tough to really get into it anyways. On freeway on ramps though I really like getting up to 60 in a few seconds.

Try driving my mom's 98 mazda protege with an anemic 1.5L 4cyl. One day of driving that and a dump truck would feel like Bugatti Veyron.

There comes a time when you reach a point in acceleration when its just no pint getting any faster unless your on the tracks. Then the enjoyment comes from modding and styling in my books.
Yes, I feel I would want to speed up mine to do 0-60mpm in 3.8s likke JohnInSoCal. This matched the lambo Gallarado that my friend has. I was shaking after coming out of the car. It was an experience I can tell you. Anything beyond that kind of accelleration is really for the tracks and thats ok, but on the streets its getting ridiculous (ok and lots of fun too!! lol) I tthink even with 3.8s you will still want more. It will never end so channel it into some other mod.

Booooosted.

The only thing I found that my SS has up on other sports cars I've driven is the acceleration when I punch it and I'm already doing 80. WOW. So as far as streeting it, the Camaro won't 'feel' like a smaller sports car. But it's so much cooler, IMO

It's just an amazing feeling you get going that fast, for me it's irreplaceable. If I was rich and had millions of dollars, I'd buy 2 more Camaros from Hennessey as wheel as a ZR1. There aren't any other cars out there that I would really want,....oh wait, that Corvette Stingray Concept is an exception, that would be really fast. I'm just saying, it's all perception; what's god like fast to me can be a dump truck speed to a Corvette owner. It all depends on what you've experienced; until you experience something faster than what you currently already own, your car may feel blazing. On a side note a Veyron is Lord of the road though,.....I wouldn't mind having one, but the interior is just to plain for me, not enough gadgets and stuff to look at; although great quality interior.

The thing I like about my SS is that if someone passes me now, it's because I let them.
