Awesome.
What's in the wagon will help you deal with not matching the time for ZL1, no matter how many ponies you have. It has to turn to go around the track that fast. .

I don't see any reason why an SS with upgraded suspension with equivalent tire dimensions wouldn't be able to do the same time with the same HP#'s as the ZL1.

It very might be able to, with the right suspension and equivalent power it might be beat it. All bets are off when you started modding a car.

However, the question was how much power WITHOUT an equivalent suspension. |

The SS stock suspension is terrible! It would be pointless the try and match ZL1 times by increasing power without upgrading suspension. Great question, but we all know it can't be done on stock springs and sways.

700hp in a stock SS will put you right into the armco trying to match the ZL1 at the ring.

There's no reason why an upgraded suspension with some equal HP and TQ numbers couldn't match the ZL1. Even if it fell short, I don't think the changes are that substantial that an SS could not have been designed orginally with proper suspension and an SC to perform equivalently. It's obvious with stock suspension the SS doesn't handle well, it's the very first thing everyone complains about and ends up moding on their 2010 and up Camaro SS. |

I'm sure the Pfadt or Pedders Camaro would do very well. Those two do very well on the tracks.

Too much power could hurt you. grip is what you would need more than power IMO.
I think a superchanged LS3 with the right suspention and brake upgrades would get the job done. possibly even modded N/A with the right suspension and brakes could come close. I have an 07 Z06. Look at what the current Z06 carbon does. 07 time was 7:44 add better brakes and suspension with now power shaved 22 seconds. one of the downfalls of the first generation Z06 is the braking and grip over uneven surface. the new model solves those issue and is alot quicker around a track. where the Zr-1 proabably almost has too much power at times so it is sketchy to drive at the limit. So over 100hp more doesnt translate into as fast of lap time as you would think. |

suspension (to include wheels and tires) is the answer to faster times around the ring...not HP. At around > 650 crank hp most 10-12 SS's are going to have more power than their suspension mods can fully utilize in the corners. I'm at 731 hp at the crank and I have a bit of chassis flex when I'm hard into it in the corners. So much so that my BMR drive shaft loop rubs and will be switching to a metco loop and probably getting a chassis flex brace from either BMR or someone else
