22" and 20" Pics, Same Car, Pros-Cons

Just for reference, these are on the same car, same day, with 22" (Foose) and 20"(Forgestar) wheels lowered with Pfadt springs. (Please excuse my door ding, someone just bashed it with a shopping cart)

22" Side

20" Side

22" 3/4

20" 3/4

Pros and cons are rather obvious, but:

22"
Pros: Looks better IMO, Seems to have more grip, less give in turns
Cons: Firmer ride, perceived increase in grip is probably from more diameter/weight, little sidewall means you have to watch which roads you drive on

20"
Pros: Less sleek but tougher look IMO, less expensive, increased sidewall make road scanning less important
Cons: Playing with air pressure still softer in turns, performance increase is not all that substantial

They both have their pros and cons, but I haven't found that the differences that get pointed out are dramatic. The same wheel in different sizes would have been better, but these should have shown a large difference and it's not there.

If you're not a regular racer and have decent roads, 22" for sure.
Because of the roads where I work, going to stick with 20".

And yes, I will eventually get a matching back rotor, I was just surprised that the back rotor costs double the front!

Forgestars look 10 times better. You should weigh them while you have all the wheels available.

Despite your feelings the 20" wheels will out handle the 22" all day long.

What your probably feeling is more road contact with less sidewall. But if your car was tested with each wheel, later Gs, slalom speed, etc. would be better running the 20" wheels.
And straight line performance would be much better.

And l love the look of the 20" Forgestars.

20s always look better IMO. And the Forgestar is a much better looking wheel

Ya, gotta agree with the guys on this one. Mines a daily driver and as nice as the 22's look in the lowered stance - gotta stick with the 20's..

Forgestars FTW! The others ones are not my thing. But I like the F14s in 22s.

I just ordered a set of 20s for my car. I'll be selling my 22s once I get them. I've added some hp to my car and the 20s will hook better.

Personally, I don't like either wheel, and it depends on what you're going for. If you're trying to compete with someone, get the 20's and squeeze every ounce of performance out of the car. I like the look of 22's on my car, and I enjoy driving the car both fast in the corners, and cruising down the block, so 22's were my wheel of choice.

I do agree with everyone else that the Forgestars look better than the Foose wheels

That was mostly the point of my post, if you're not racing often and you have decent roads, 22" all the way. Not sure the reduction in size was worth the cost, and on the dyno it was 5rwhp difference (only ~1%!, well worth it in the looks dept.).

I'm keeping the 20's due to the roads in my area. Also, I need sidewall because two times I let other people drive my car they tapped a curb, and I did it once. Otherwise, I would have just kept the tires and swapped 22" rims.

Definitely the Foose 22's, much better looking wheel, I don't like the look of those 20's at all.
