Noisy lifters 2013 L99

The car has 4k miles on it, 2013 L99. If I don't drive it for a day and start it up in the am, it sounds like gunfire under the hood for about 2-3 seconds then it quiets up.

Is this normal for the lifters to drain down after only a day like that?

No it is not normal. You need to take it to a dealer and have the lifters replaced, and soon before they fail.

There is a bulletin about L99's and bad lifters. GM was suppose to have fixed the issue but apparently some are still getting through.

First chevy in 18 years and regretting it already? Not acceptable of $40k car in this day of technology. Was gonna do headers/tune, but this rate I don't trust it to go 100k without some engine work or something else failing.

Permagrin....gone :(

If you're going to do that, you might as well get an LS3 conversion, and not worry about the crappy AFM/L99 parts anymore.

The cost of the conversion probably be the same as trading/selling it for a ls3 and not have to screw with it.

What's the worst it going to do? AFM sucks for more reasons than one!!!

You'd lose a lot more on the trade in... The AFM lifters are shit, and buy doing an LS3 conversion you eliminate them, giving you peace of mind that your car won't break. Or you can go all out and do a nice aggressive cam as well

Truly sorry to hear about lifter concerns Smkn600CTD. I would definitely like to investigate this further for you. Would you mind sending me a PM and referencing this thread? I look forward to your contact.
